The Complete Works Podcast

It's time to play the music, it's time to light the lights, it's time to... RANK the Muppets??? Yes, thanks to a Ko-fi donation from one of our listeners, the Mikes are ranking every theatrically-released Muppets film from worst to best!

This week, we've got another early 90's Cold War thriller, and this time it's a John Le Carré adaptation starring Sean Connery and Michelle Pfieffer in the lead roles - Roy Scheider appears alongside them in THE RUSSIA HOUSE!

This week, it's time to return to the Michelle Yeoh season to talk about the brand-new spinoff movie featuring Yeoh's character from Star Trek: Discovery, STAR TREK: SECTION 31! How does this Paramount Plus original fare against the long cinematic legacy of Star Trek films? Let's find out!

It's time for the first Mike Makes Mike Watch of 2025! And this time we... sort of accidentally created a great double feature of bleak, snowy westerns? This time around, Mike Smith is making Mike D watch THE ASSASSINATION OF JESSE JAMES BY THE COWARD ROBERT FORD, while Mike D is making Smith catch up with a classic spaghetti western, Sergio Corbucci's THE GREAT SILENCE!

This week, Roy Scheider co-stars with Bonnie Bedelia, Arliss Howard, and Andre Bruagher in a surprisingly solid HBO movie from the early '90s. Scheider is hired to photograph a death row inmate as he's being executed, but he begins to discover that there may be more to this case in 1990's SOMEBODY HAS TO SHOOT THE PICTURE!

It's finally. here! It's time for the Mike & Mike 2024 Year-in-Review Spectacular! We're counting down our Top 10 Films of 2024 - PLUS, we'll be counting down our Top 10 Discoveries of 2024, AND we'll be looking ahead at some of the films we're most excited about in 2025. We didn't plan it this way, but we simply couldn't stop talking about all of our favorites, so this is now the longest podcast episode we've ever recorded! Special thanks to Kyle Cullen, Producer Collin, Jackie and Danielle from No More Late Fees, Mike Emmons, Nick Wermuth, Vin Craig, and Charley Macorn for their contributions to this episode!

This week, Roy Scheider enters the '90s by almost starting an international incident at the end of the Cold War! Re-teaming with his 52 PICK-UP director John Frankenheimer, Scheider is joined by Jurgen Prochnow and Harry Dean Stanton in THE FOURTH WAR!

Since we didn't get to talk about it for our annual in-person episode, Mike and Mike recorded this quick bonus episode to discuss Robert Egger's latest horror film, NOSFERATU!

Roy Scheider closes out his '80s with a police procedural slasher about a series of murders that tie into Astros baseball games. We brought on resident baseball expert (and horror movie enthusiast) Producer Collin to help us talk about it!

It's time for the annual in-person holiday episode! Now, usually these episodes center on whatever the big holiday blockbuster is that season, and this time around, the timing didn't quite work out for us to do NOSFERATU (though that one's coming!). So, since our Music Supervisor Kyle Cullen had never seen DIE HARD, we decided it was time to make it happen! Producer Collin also joins us to talk John McTiernan's celebrated 1988 action classic - and probably the greatest Christmas movie of all time.
