The Complete Works Podcast

We are so close to the end of our Michelle Yeoh season - but we simply had to take a break this week to get back in the Cage. THE RETIREMENT PLAN, featuring Nicolas Cage, Ron Perlman, Jackie Earle Haley, and Ernie Hudson, has finally been released on VOD, so it's time to talk about it!

Michelle Yeoh closed out 2022 with a major supporting role on THE WITCHER: BLOOD ORIGIN, a prequel miniseries to Netflix's hit fantasy series THE WITCHER. Mike D is a big WITCHER fan, who has seen the show, read the books, played the games, you name it. Mike Smith has never experienced a WITCHER thing in his life. So this should be interesting!

This week, Michelle Yeoh stars in this YA adaptation made for Netflix, reuniting with LAST CHRISTMAS director Paul Feig! Well, "stars" is a strong word - it's more like "appears in for about three minutes." Also starring Charlize Theron, Kerry Washington, Laurence Fishburnce, and Olivia Rodrigo needle drops.

This week, Michelle Yeoh stars in... an animated kid-friendly remake of Mel Brooks' BLAZING SADDLES? That doesn't seem like a real movie, but somehow it is - it's time for us to dig into PAWS OF FURY: THE LEGEND OF HANK!

Are you ready for Gru to rise? Michelle Yeoh followed up her Oscar-winning turn in Everything Everywhere All at Once with a voice role in an animated film that inspired Gen Z to return to movie theaters dressed in their finest attire. It's time to assemble the GentleMinions to talk MINIONS: THE RISE OF GRU!

We finally made it. The movie that is arguably the reason we're doing this season of the podcast. Winner of 7 Oscars - including Best Picture and Best Actress for Michelle Yeoh - it's time for us to talk about the Daniels' epic multiverse extravaganza, EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE!

This week, Michelle Yeoh makes her triumphant return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe - but this time, she's playing a different character with a bit more to do than in her brief GUARDIANS 2 cameo. Yeoh appears as Ying Nan in Destin Daniel Crettin's SHANG-CHI AND THE LEGEND OF THE TEN RINGS, Marvel Studios' first film with an Asian lead and primarily Asian cast. Also starring Simu Liu, Awkwafina, and - in his very first English-languafe role - the legendary Tony Leung!

This week, Michelle Yeoh teams up with Carla Gugino and Angela Bassett to fill out the Sisterhood of Assassins, a secret team who helps out Karen Gillan and Lena Headey in the 2021 Netflix release GUNPOWDER MILKSHAKE! Is this female-fronted action film heavily inspired by the JOHN WICK series worth checking out?

This week, Michelle Yeoh makes a brief appearance in Joe Carnahan's long-delayed sci-fi action movie BOSS LEVEL, finally released as a Hulu original in 2021. The film stars Frank Grillo as a man caught in a timeloop, but it is *not* EDGE OF TOMORROW, it's a different timeloop action movie - also starring Naomi Watts, Mel Gibson, and more.

This week, we're talking Michelle Yeoh's supporting role in a Christmas rom-com which stars Emilia Clarke and Henry Golding, is co-written by Emma Thompson, is directed by Paul Feig, and is - very literally - inspired by a beloved WHAM! song. That's right, it's time for LAST CHRISTMAS!
