The Compound Effect: Introduction

Listen Later

Shoremates,

Welcome to our 8th Book: The Compound Effect by Darren Hardy!

If you want a copy of my notes, updated weekly, go to www.thelifenavigator.com, sign up, and you'll get access.  If you love tea, be sure to stop by www.nauticalteas.com.

Action items for today. Normally I create my own, but Darren’s action steps at the end of Chapter 1 are significantly better and so I defer to his.  If you head to thecompoundeffect.com, you’ll find a treasure trove of resources he gives out on his website.

  1. Write out a few excuses you might be holding on to (not smart enough, don’t have education, etc) Just like Darren, decide to make up in personal development and hard work to outcompete anyone — including your old self.
  2. Write out 6 very small, seemingly meaningless steps you can take every day that can eventually turn your life in a positive direction.
  3. Write down small, seemingly meaningless actions you can stop doing that you know are not good for you
  4. List a few areas, skills, or outcomes that you have been most successful in the past.  Ask yourself if you’re taking them for granted and not working on improvement, which can lead to future failure.

Shoremates, I hope that this episode was valuable to you. Each book we choose has to have the potential to change your life in a positive way, and I highly recommend adding this book to your bookshelf.

Always, always remember

You’ve got this!
