As dancers, we're constantly creating illusions. We make people believe they saw something that didn't actually happen the way they think it did.
I talk about how we use angles to make ourselves look more flexible. How we speed something up and then slow something else down to create the illusion that there's more time in the music. How we shorten our limbs to make a movement fit the timing, while making it look much bigger than it actually was.
Dance is full of these little tricks that completely change what the audience sees.
This episode is about understanding that dance isn't always about doing everything perfect but rather meeting yourself where you are at. Or creating an ILlusion that you are “there”.
Once you understand the con art of dance, you'll start seeing choreography differently, performing differently, and appreciating just how much of dance is really about perception…. And naturally you’ll become a better dancer !
