In this special episode, your host, Nieves Soto, shares her personal journey with money. Born in Venezuela, Nieves moved to the U.S. at age 14, navigating a new culture, language, and financial reality. She worked her way through college, studying engineering at UF, while learning to manage money and avoid student debt.
After starting her career in manufacturing, Nieves realized she didn’t fully understand key financial concepts like 401k and profit sharing. This pushed her to dive into personal finance education, discovering resources like REI and Bigger Pockets. By 2021, she bought her first investment property—a duplex—that eliminated her housing expenses and accelerated her journey to financial independence.
