Even in these trying and uncertain times, every believer, through faith, can receive and experience all the benefits of the promises found in the Word of God. Join us this Sunday as we begin a new series, The Importance of Faith, with a message on the fundamental elements of faith.
We had some challenges with live streaming and recording this Sunday’s message from our guest speaker and friend, Mark Shell. But here it is…listen, be challenged, and grow in your faith as you do!
Enjoy the conclusion of our sermon series called, What Do We Call Him? During this series, we have learned that studying the names of God gives us a deeper revelation into His character and allows us a window to see how He feels towards us. This week’s sermon will be no exception! The character traits that we will learn this week will show us more of the goodness of God and how He loves us.
Life is not always easy. Everyone experiences pain and brokenness at one point or another in their lives. The good news is that we serve a God who can meet all of our needs emotionally, physically, and spiritually. This includes healing from sickness and disease. Our God is so powerful that He can heal anything!
At times in life, we might feel alone—possibly even abandoned. And during these days of calamity and self-isolation, those feelings have quite possibly increased and are more frequent. However, no matter how we feel, our God is faithful, He is always there.
Have you ever been in a bad situation and couldn’t see a way out of it? Have you ever been surrounded by the enemy and couldn’t see a way to victory? When our back is against the wall, we have two choices: we can give up and suffer defeat, or we can call upon the name of the Lord. Join us as we look at four biblical illustrations that will help us learn to call Him by name when we are at the end of our rope.
Sometimes we’re burdened because we think God is not going to come through for us. Other times we’re bitter because things have not worked out as we want. On occasion, we feel completely broken because everything has been taken from us. No matter what we are going through, or what state we are in, we can put our trust in the Lord. The Scriptures reveal in Jeremiah that “there is nothing too hard for You (God).”
For many of us, our view of God has not changed much since we were little kids. Too often, we see God in ways that hinder us in our relationship with Him. For instance, we may see God as a “policeman” who is out to bust us for our behavior, or we may see Him as “the grand old man” who just winks at our wrong-doing. Some of us may even see Him as a “managing director” who controls everything.
Studying the names of God allows us to see into His true character and attributes, which destroy these and other misconceptions about Him. This Sunday, we will look at four “hammers” that will help us break out of the boxes in which we try to put God as we continue the sermon series, ”What Do We Call Him? A Study of the Names of God.”
Before the pandemic that the United States is currently facing, “provision” wasn’t a word most Americans thought much about. It’s usually a weightless word to us. We may use it euphemistically when we stock up on “provisions” for a road trip, meaning Twizzlers and chips. We may use it to refer to unexpected upgrades in life: “the Lord provided us with a new car” or “the Lord provided our church with the means to get that new sound system.” But does this word, “provision,” take on a new meaning when the Bible names God as our Provider?
This is not merely the fourth part of our current sermon series. This is a very timely message for these challenging days in which we find ourselves.
Sometimes life throws us a curveball that we didn’t expect. What do we do during times of uncertainty or unrest? We know that we can’t allow ourselves to give in to fear, anxiety, and worry. The enemy of our souls would like nothing less than for us to fall apart emotionally during hard times. So the first thing we need to do is resist the pull to give in to fear, and call upon the name of the Lord. God has given us many names in scripture, but when you are faced with uncertainty and fear, the name of God to call is Jehovah Shalom—God our Peace!
