November invites us to slow down, nourish our physical wellbeing and rediscover the strength in softness.
In this month’s Connection Compass reading, we explore the wisdom of autumn, the Scorpio New Moon, Athena’s courage and the messages of the tarot, reflecting on rest, self-worth, intuition and the balance between action and surrender.
I also celebrate two years of the podcast, share some personal reflections and reveal what’s coming as we journey towards winter and the Christmas season.
An invitation to pause, reconnect and honour what your mind, body and soul truly need.

In this week’s episode, I’m joined by the lovely Mandy from The Calm Consultancy and Chetham Farm Retreat.
We have such a lovely, honest chat about our shared experiences of nursing, what happens when caring for others starts to take its toll, and knowing when something in life needs to change.
Mandy shares her journey from children’s nursing to becoming an adoptive parent, and how all those different experiences have come together to shape what she does today.
We chat about adoption, children’s emotional wellbeing, the importance of connecting with nature, and learning to show ourselves the same love and care we so freely give to others.
Mandy also tells us about her new children’s book, Dreamy Needs a Hug, and the story behind Chetham Farm Retreat.
It’s one of those conversations that reminds us how everything in life can somehow connect, and that there are so many different ways to care.

To celebrate this very special milestone of The Connection Compass Podcast, we’re turning the tables! I’m joined by the wonderful Ashley Mondor, who has been a guest three times before, but this time she’s taking the reins and interviewing me.
This is a heartfelt, honest and sometimes unexpected conversation as we explore grief, intuition, finding strength in difficult moments, and the courage to trust ourselves, even when life doesn’t make logical sense.
We reflect on how the podcast began with a simple idea, how The Connection Compass came into being, and why I believe that creating meaningful change in the world starts with the connection we have with ourselves.
We also talk about finding your voice, embracing creativity, challenging the fear of getting things wrong, and the extraordinary power of sharing our stories.
It’s a celebration of 100 episodes, but more than that, it’s a conversation about being human, trusting our inner compass and finding connection through it all.
Thank you for being part of the journey. Here’s to the next 100!

What if confidence isn’t something you’re born with, but something you can learn?
In this episode, I’m joined by the wonderful Annette Williams, confidence specialist, Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapist, author of Step Into Your Spotlight, and former BBC television producer.
We chat about her incredible career spanning nearly 40 years, her four BAFTA awards, a very special Gold Blue Peter badge, and of course, some of our favourite childhood TV programmes!
But we also dive into something so many of us struggle with , confidence and self-doubt.
Annette shares why confidence isn’t set in stone, how we can learn to believe in ourselves, and some simple ways to manage nerves, stop comparing ourselves to others and take opportunities rather than holding ourselves back.
It’s a lovely conversation full of nostalgia, inspiration, good advice and a reminder that confidence isn’t about never feeling nervous, it’s about trusting yourself to give things a go.
About Annette
Annette spent 38 years at the BBC. Starting off in the regions, working on the daily News programmes at BBC Wales and BBC Plymouth. Annette then rose through the ranks to become Head of Factual Programmes for BBC Studios Kids & Family.
During her time there, she worked on some of the UK’s most iconic television programmes, including Blue Peter, Live & Kicking, CBeebies Stargazing, Britain’s Best Young Artist and The Dengineers, developing a reputation for creative storytelling, strong leadership, and nurturing on-screen talent.
Her work has been recognised with multiple industry accolades, including BAFTA Awards and Royal Television Society Awards, as well as an International Emmy nomination. Among her proudest achievements is being awarded the prestigious Gold Blue Peter badge.
Alongside her production career, Annette has also been an Associate Lecturer at the University of Salford for 3 years, where she has shared her industry knowledge and experience with the next generation of media professionals.
Following a major career pivot aged 60, Annette retrained as a Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapist and founded Silverbrook Hypnotherapy.
She now specialises in helping professionals build confidence, particularly around public speaking, visibility, performance under pressure and overcoming fears and phobias.
Drawing on her unique combination of TV industry insight and therapeutic expertise, she works with clients worldwide.
Annette is also the author of Step Into Your Spotlight: The TV insider’s guide to feeling confident when all eyes are on YOU!, a book that blends behind-the-scenes television experience with practical confidence strategies and mindset techniques.
This bestseller book includes insights from well-known presenters such as Angellica Bell, Helen Skelton, Ricky Wilson, Krishnan Guru-Murthy, Mark Wright and Ade Adepitan.
Today, Annette combines her background in television, education, and hypnotherapy to help people step into their own spotlight with confidence, authenticity, and impact.

Today, I’m inviting you to join me for A Walk Through Autumn.
We’re going to wander through the changing seasons, from the falling leaves of New York to the quiet comforts of home, exploring the beautiful duality of autumn — movement and stillness, endings and new beginnings, holding on and letting go.
Along the way, I’ll be sharing some personal reflections, a little seasonal history, the curious world of leaf peeping, and some of my own writing and poetry.
And perhaps, as we walk through autumn together, we might discover that nature isn’t asking us to let go of everything all at once, but simply inviting us to find our own rhythm through change.
So make yourself a cup of tea, find somewhere cosy, and let’s take a little walk through autumn together.

October invites us into The Sacred Return , a coming home to ourselves, our hearts and the deeper truths within. In this month’s seasonal energy, moon cycle, Connection Compass and autumnal tarot reading, we explore what it means to live from the inside out: nourishing our roots, reclaiming our energy and noticing where old hurts, fears or expectations may be keeping us from moving forward. There is space here for both grief and joy, for acceptance and change, and for remembering that love remains even as life shifts around us. This is an invitation to tend to what is sacred, trust yourself more deeply and find nourishment in the simple gift of being here.

In this episode, I’m joined by Barbara Bradshaw, who shares how perimenopause brought anxiety, self-doubt and a loss of confidence that left her barely recognising the woman looking back at her. We talk about her decision to walk away from a career in accountancy and choose a completely different path , one that brought new energy, new people and, ultimately, a new version of herself.
Barbara also opens up about supporting both of her daughters through scoliosis diagnoses and surgery, the emotional toll of trying to hold everything together as a parent, and why she now believes so strongly in taking things one day at a time and looking after yourself too.
It’s a conversation about change, motherhood, resilience and discovering that sometimes the version of ourselves we find in midlife might be the one that fits us best.

What if, instead of waiting until a child reaches crisis point, we gave them the knowledge and tools to understand themselves much earlier?
In this episode, I’m joined by Sarah Amedeo author of The Solution: A Revolutionary Plan to Eliminate School Shootings, Child Suicide and the Silent Mental Turmoil Destroying Our Kids
Sarah’s work began with her own experiences as a child, bullying, struggling to understand what she was feeling, and believing at one point that she had a “broken brain”. But learning about psychology and human behaviour changed the way she understood herself, other people, and the world around her.
Today, Sarah is asking an important question: are we too reactive when it comes to children’s mental health?
We talk about breaking generational patterns, emotional intelligence, bullying, technology, the role of parents, and why teaching children how to understand their thoughts, emotions and behaviour could help us move from crisis intervention towards prevention.
It’s a conversation about what might change if, rather than waiting for children to struggle, we started teaching them how to understand what it means to be human.

In this episode, I’m joined once again by soul strategist Andrea Mellon, and this conversation feels very different from the one we shared back in May.
So much has shifted for both of us in such a short space of time. Andrea’s spiritually downloaded work has evolved into Soul Coding, while my own Connection Compass has begun to come together in ways I couldn’t have reached through logic alone.
We talk about what happens when we stop trying to make our work fit into conventional frameworks and instead trust what we’re receiving. We explore spiritual connection, remembering our gifts, working with the seemingly illogical, and finding the courage to share the work that comes through us even when we can’t fully explain where it came from.
This is a conversation about trust, expansion, and what becomes possible when we allow spirit to have a seat at the table.
