Welcome to the very first episode of The Conscious Children Project.
This is a space to slow down, reconnect, and focus on what truly matters, not just how we nurture our children but how we grow alongside them.
For this opening conversation, I wanted to start with the people we rarely hear from directly: children.
I sat down with a group of elementary school kids and asked them a few questions. What makes you feel loved? What do you wish your parents understood better? What helps you when you feel sad?
Their answers were honest, funny, tender, and full of insight. From wanting fewer screens and more family time to the comfort of hugs and bedtime cuddles, their words remind us how deeply children feel and how much they understand.
What You’ll Hear
In this episode, you’ll hear kids talk about:
What they love doing with their parents, from ice cream trips to bedtime cuddles
How they describe their parents in one word such as funny, kind, hardworking, or dream
What they wish grown-ups did more often
What helps when they are sad
And some hilarious and heartwarming answers to the question, “If you were a parent for one day…”
It’s a mix of laughter, honesty, and gentle wisdom that will stay with you long after you listen.
A Few Reflections
Kids crave presence more than perfection
A simple hug or a few moments of real listening can mean the world
They notice how hard we work, but what they want most is time with us
“If a toddler is quiet, they’re probably up to something” (a favorite line from the chat)
Children remind us that being seen, heard, and loved is what matters most
From Shruthi
“These conversations reminded me that the heart of parenting isn’t about doing more — it’s about being there. When we slow down and truly listen, children show us what love and connection really look like.”
