- Growing up in a spiritual household, she realized that she must take responsibility for everything that shows up in her life.
While it’s easier to blame others, taking responsibility for yourself gives freedom.If you want anything to show up in your life, you need to become it.Fixing the difficult things in your life won’t bring you peace. - When she started getting sick a lot in law school, her dad helped her realize she didn’t want to be there. She also realizes that she was just sticking it out in fear of what others might think.
Don’t spend your life doing something that doesn’t resonate with you.We all have a purpose and you must be aligned with it to receive divine guidance.If you don’t know what your passion is, find out what you want to feel and start assuming it, imagining it, and bringing it into your body.She knew that she wanted to tell stories. - Around 2013, she went with her dad on a cruise where he held lectures.
Arriving in Ephesus, her dad shared an emotional reunion with Mariam. She translated her dad’s work from English to Farsi though his books weren’t allowed in Iran.Serena was moved to tears upon feeling the love Mariam had for her dad.Upon witnessing that powerful moment, she wrote her dad a letter and he ended up asking a songwriter friend to turn it into a song sung by her sister Skye.At her wedding, their father-daughter dance was to that song.[42:01] Asking How You Can Serve
- Her dad used to say that the Prayer of St. Francis isn’t just a prayer but a way of living.

- About a year after their dad passed away, she and her sister, Saje, started writing and putting their stories together.
