We live in a driven society that leaves us almost always feeling like we’re falling behind and not doing enough despite our frenetic activity and sense of exhaustion. Jesus brings good news to our situation with a very different idea of what expectation and reasonable service look like.

Karl Rahner’s book, Prayers for a lifetime, captures some of his accessible, prayerful language. It is a small book and easy to read. Small, prayerful books such as this are the best way to access Rahner’s spirituality as his denser, more formal theological writings are virtually impenetrable.
