A glance across the Web shows remarkable offerings in business, economics, finance, and entrepreneurship programs at several $50,000-per-year colleges—all a quick, free download away. It means some of the top names in business education are becoming increasingly accessible to anyone anywhere, making these college sites a potentially smart resource for small business owners.

To be sure, some of these classes demand a substantial time commitment that may conflict with running a small business. However, many courses also give even the most time-strapped entrepreneurs the ability to tune in when they can, thereby allowing them to be lifelong learners.

  • The Infiltrator: My Secret Life Inside the Dirty Banks
The Infiltrator: My Secret Life Inside the Dirty Banks Behind Pablo Escobar's Medellin Cartel with Robert Mazur on the Core Business Show with Tim Jacquet.  Robert Mazur, Former DEA Agent and Author, the Infiltrator: My Secret Life Inside the Dirty Banks Behind Pablo Escobar's Medellin Carte
The Mexican government announced it has detained yet another high ranking military officer allegedly corrupted by deadly drug cartels in Mexico. The unspeakable violence, including the recent discovery of 49 decapitated and mutilated bodies of apparent innocent citizens, has apparently shaken the conscience of the uncorrupted segment of Mexico's government to a level where it may have found the courage to attempt to attack the cartel's grip on Mexico's democracy. Robert Mazur, Former DEA Agent and Author,  Corruption of the Mexican military at its highest levels not only has a dramatic impact on the security of our borders and the volume of illegal drugs that flood our nation, but it also affects many other nations around the globe because of the ever increasing ties documented between Mexican drug cartels and terrorist organizations in the Middle East and Africa. There is irrefutable proof that Mexican cartels are working closely with Hezbollah and other terrorist organizations.

  • The Re-emerging of Merchant Banking for Business
The Re-emerging of Merchant Banking for Business
with Kevin Mullen on the Core Business Show with Tim Jacquet. Kevin Mullen, CEO of New World Merchant Bank in interview discussing the re-emerging role of merchant banking in facilitating the flow of capital. This is a trend much more prevalent in Canada which is more inclined to consistently or thoroughly adopt actuarial based lending, with far fewer gap lenders than in the USA. So the subject of discussion might be the re-appearance of merchant banking in translating the business case, negotiating the deals, and coaching business leaders as they learn to play the actuarial lending/borrowing game to their advantage. The need spans across equity preservation, maintaining acceleration, to making timely adjustments which is of course more of a necessity in today's increasingly global marketplace.
Just a few ideas. There is a significant diference in the way commercial financing and investment flows in the USA as compared to Canada, mainly in there being far fewer gap lenders in Canada and therefore banks tend to still do relationship (logic) lending in the USA than in Canada because they need to in order to compete, and in general more of the potential commerce happens because all of the financing pieces are available that marry to the chartered bank financing instruments.
