In today's sermon we learn that when love has its full effect in the community it will result in peace and gratitude.

If Christ is all, it means we can lay aside our founding forefathers and follow his teachings first. If Christ is all, it means we can lay aside where we are from, good or bad, and he can overcome those dispositions. If Christ is all it means our sins, be they oriented toward sexual misconduct or anger, can be killed. And is in all - Christ levels the playing field so that there is no Jew or Greek, etc.

The point of today’s sermon is simply - let no one disqualify you is as simple as it sounds. Don’t let the ultra careful religious person disqualify you, don’t let the super spiritual person disqualify you; don’t let the fundamentalist disqualify you, don’t let the charismatic practice that you find uncomfortable disqualify you; don’t let the uber-confident Christian expert disqualify you, but also don’t let the certititude of some advocate for the supernatural give you a sense of being less a Christian.

Part of being a Christian is a sacrificial approach to life Paul is about to spend a bunch of time on why we shouldn’t work about ritual sacrifices but Paul is no stranger to literal suffering.

Do you believe that you could lay aside your facts, your identity, your orientation, your disposition, simply by placing your belief in a man who claimed to be the Son of God?

Is Jesus preeminent in your life, your faith, your understanding of how the world works? Is Jesus preeminent? In Colossians, Paul says He Is.
