After raging a bit at the dumb UFC decision to create an interim title for next months pay-per-view event in Houston, Scott and Dan settle in for something much more fun involving the big boys: the classic five-round draw between Hunt and Bigfoot. A very busy fight weekend yielded split decisions at all the major North American promotions: UFC, Bellator and PFL. Scott and Dan weigh in on all the relevant rounds, as usual, and try to figure out what to do with Ciryl Gane after his win in the UFC headliner.

Scott and Dan are going back — way back — to the early days of the unified rules era for this week’s Past Judgment, examining one of the top fights from 2001 as The Natural and The Rock exchanged big rounds early in their grueling heavyweight title clash. The CSJ look back at how that fight would score in their system, and Scott sprinkles in some little info nuggets from Randy Couture himself, having spoken to the UFC Hall of Famer about the fight earlier in the week.

The Korean Zombie earned a clear decision, but a few split nods on the UFC card warranted further examination. But the biggest judging flub of 2021 came in the PFL headliner, and it's one Scott and Dan have strong thoughts about. Check out why we *almost* resorted to the R word that rhymes with "snobbery."

A double dip into Past Judgment gets heated as Scott and Dan nearly come to blows and fire one another from the show. OK, not really. But with a pair of interesting fights from a CSJ scoring perspective, there's plenty of discussion of what constitutes a 10-8 in our patent-pending criteria.

The Last Stylebender was rarely in trouble en route to a trio of 50-45 scorecards, and the judges in Arizona were strong overall. The heavyweights did their job Saturday at UFC Apex, with both the main event and co-headliner ending inside of the first 5 minutes. Nice job, big guys. Although one of the CSJ’s most contentious decisions came from the other heavyweight fight, the featured prelim. Scott and Dan will put that fight under the microscope for an abbreviated Contested Rounds — thanks to some superb judging on the whole at a decision-laden event.

Live major MMA returns Saturday with the UFC after a welcome weekend off. It’s a disappointing heavyweight headliner in Las Vegas, so Dan and Scott skipped looking back at any of the competitor’s past fights. Instead, they revisited a terrific light heavyweight title clash from 2015 that saw all three judges post different scorecards.
