Numerous studies have shown that 70% of women would rather leave their jobs than ask for a promotion. As surprising as these statistics are, I know firsthand why this is. Most women, like myself, had never even thought to ask for one. They figure if they were truly capable of advancement then their boss would have asked them already. What I’ve come to realize from personal experience, as well as with the women I’ve coached, is that this isn’t necessarily true.
