The "mystery revealed" assumes a "mystery concealed," which has its context in the covenant of Israel and in the "scriptures of the prophets" (Rom. 16:25-26). The prophets "made careful searches and inquiries" (1 Pet. 1:10) concerning Israel's final apocalyptic salvation, which was already enigmatically prophesied in the book of Deuteronomy. This constituted "the secret things of the Lord" concerning YHWH's covenant dealing with His beloved nation Israel. This is the context of Israel's crisis and prophetic searching and it is precisely what was disclosed and explained to the Apostles of the Lamb.
