  • The Gemini Boat Race - 2024 Regatta PREview! Live show

Join The Coxswain's Journey and RowMann Repairs for an exclusive PREVIEW of the highly anticipated 2024 "Gemini Boat Race". Dive deep into the iconic rivalry between Oxford and Cambridge Universities as we discuss all the thrilling details. Don't miss out on this special event - tune in and be part of the excitement!

I had some great guests along with my Co-Host, John Perry from Hawthorn Rowing club, I was also joined by Rob Manning from RowMann Repairs and an extra special appearance from the UK! Alistair Taylor from Cambridge University Boat Club.

To be honest, I had no idea just the magnitude of this rowing race! Yes its been around since gods dog was a pup, but i had no appreciation for the sheer support and passion behind it. Crowds of up to 300,000 people are expected to line the banks of the Thames this Saturday as the two universities, Cambridge and Oxford, go toe to toe for 6.8km though some of the toughest rowing waterway's on the planet! These athletes are the real deal!

  • Regatta Review - 2024 Head of the Schoolgirls Regatta

The BIG one! The 2024 Head of the Schoolgirls Regatta was held last weekend on the magnificent Barwon River in Geelong. Months of hard work, sweat, and tears and it all comes down to a few short races over a few days in March! This is what it is all about!

The conditions for the regatta could not have been better, and the racing was fierce, with some great results and brilliant outcomes for all the athletes and their families. No doubt a lot of fun was had by all, and hopefully those not finishing year 12 this year will be back to do it all again next year (in a few short months' actually).

As usual, Alan Crute, from Rowing Regatta Form Guides and Chat, along with our own "Rowing Tragic" Binky Kfouri will give us the run down on all the racing over the weekend!

Whilst this is the penultimate regatta for most there is still a few athletes heading off to Sydney for the Australian Rowing Championships at the Sydney International Regatta Centre in Penrith over the next week, good luck to you guys! To those whose season has wrapped up, enjoy the break, you've deserved it!

  • Regatta Review - A Massive Weekend!

What a weekend! 3 big regattas in Victoria, the crowd favorite; Australian Henley; and in my view one of the big three for school rowing (HoY, HoSG/ HoR and the Australian Henley). Not only that, we had the 2024 RV Junior Girls State Championship Regatta and to finish it off on Sunday was the 2024 BAS Head of the Lake.
We are very fortunate to not only have Alan Crutes expertise covering these events but also Binky Kfouri's insightful input.

The exposure that Alan has given Head of the Lake has made me tune in, this really is an impressive event! Its like combining Head of the river (boys) with Head of the school girls. The excitement that Ballarat brings to a regatta is amazing! Thanks Alan for introducing so many of us to this! Yes I know, its been going for 112 years, so I am a bit of a goose for not realising how big this really is!

By the way, big news coming! Alan, Binky and I will be hosting an amazing live HoSG preview on Thursday night prior to the racing (14th March), so save the date! grab a glass of wine and tune in! More information to come.

  • Regatta Review - 2024 Nagambie 2km Regatta

Well this one didn't go right to plan, Alan, Binky and myself did a fantastic Regatta Review, we covered all bases, gave some great insights from the course and of course all our other great content! That was until some clown realised he hadn't pressed the record button! Yes, that would have been me. At 50 mins in we were winding up the podcast I had noticed the little "recording" image in the top left hand corner wasn't actually on. What a goose! Anyway, Alan and Binky saw the funny side and we launched straight into doing it all again. This time a lot shorter!

So enjoy tonight's Regatta Review of the 2024 Nagambie Regatta including, of course, all the action from the "Nagambie Gold " races where the Female open pair took home 30k in cold hard cash! Also worth noting how far above these elite athletes are is the time differences between them and the "club crews" (the best amateur crews the clubs can muster). I'm looking forward to seeing the future of this event, it really has potential!

  • The Heavy Hitters - Nagambie Gold!

When a visionary and sport collide we often see great change in the winds! I feel we are on the precipice of that happening right now; vision, passion and motivation have all come together.

In this "Casual Convo" I am fortunate enough to be joined by the Honorable Mr Patrick McNamara AM to discuss the Nagambie Gold events at this weekends Nagambie Regatta.

This event injects unprecedented prize money into the sport of rowing like has never been seen before globally!

The concept is brilliant and because of this vision we will get to see not only some of Australia's best rowers, but the words best rowers! There are plenty of World Championship and Olympic medals amongst the cohort!

4 events, 50k up for grabs! This is serious coin on the table!

Great work Nagambie Rowing Club for embracing this initiative! The sky is the limit! I feel "Liv rowing" is coming ;-)

  • Regatta Review/s - Firbank and NSW State Championships

A big weekend in rowing both on the Barwon in Geelong; where the Junior and Intermediate girls had a hit out at the RV Firbank Regatta; but also in NSW at the Sydney International Regatta Centre in Penrith for the NSW State Championships.

Alan from Rowing Regatta Form Guides and Chat and I are thrilled to be joined by a special guest tonight; A true "Rowing Tragic"; Binky Kfouri who brings not only an insiders view of rowing as a previous rower herself but very much involved for many years as a parent of two rowers. I hope to have many more episodes gleaning her wisdom!

So be sure to tune in, yes its a bit of a lengthy episode as we had a lot to cover off!

  • The New Kids on the Block - Lake Eildon Rowing Club

In this exciting "Casual Convo" we have a great chat with Mario Laing rfom Lake Eildon Rowing Club, the newest Rowing Club in the country! What an exciting journey he has been on as he embraced his amazing location and encompassed his love for rowing into that space.

Tune in to hear Mario's story, his motivation, and how it all came about. We don't often get the chance to talk to people who are as passionate about their rowing and sport as Mario.

As I say at the end of the episode, if only more people in the world were like Mario and made things happen! Great Job Mario.
