Today's episode is all about Marketing your practice. I share some of the hurdles I have had to jump in order to help my business grow. And after a decade, I still have more work to do in this area! I share the construct that I use to frame "marketing" in a way that has helped me to embrace it versus fear it. No matter how you feel about marketing, I encourage you to find one approach the clicks with you and your comfort zone and steadily inch forward until the fear is comfortable.

My next guest is an incredibly talented and accomplished artist and art therapist, Leah Guzman. She works in the Miami-Dade public schools and her practice, The Artful Experience, where she offers individual art therapy, sells her own artwork and offers specialized courses using art as a healing process. She and I will be discussing how she is using video confrenceing to provide interactive arts-based courses and workshops for her practice.

I am very excited to welcome Julie Corbin, LMFT to the podcast. Prior to becoming a therapist, she spent years leading troubled and urban teen on wilderness trips, facilitating awe-inspiring personal change along the way. After tiring of living in a tent, she obtained a Master's in Marriage and Family Counseling from Stetson University. She specializes in the treatment of trauma and working with families of divorce and holds and EMDR certification. She has been working in private practice for roughly a decade and has spent the past few years developing a niche in the area of mediation and parenting evaluations. She and I met because we were both on a panel together speaking about private practice back in 2015. We have continued to collaborate presenting at conferences on the topic and I have found her book "The Art of Business: A Guide for Creative Arts Therapists" to be a wonderful resource.

Please welcome Emery Mikel, MA, ATR-BC, LCAT, LCPAT to the show. She is the founder and director of Water & Stone, a Creative Arts Therapy, PLLC. W&S currently has 13 creative arts therapists seeing individual clients and running groups. Her practice also offers continuing education, both online and in-person. Emery is currently working on a second book, also related to private practice and starting a company. In addition to all of the above mentioned, Emery mentors and provides supervision to other therapists and interns, guest lectures at George Washington University and is adjunct faculty at Nazareth College.
