The Credible Teacher

I reflect on the thoughts I had after seeing a man in a wheelchair outside a hospital and how contemplating death has made me more aware of what I want to accomplish during this lifetime.

This is an older recording o never posted about teaching a lesson with another teacher and realizing we all have strengths...and we should focus on them.

I share a brief history of my journey (not even close to being done) to understand my privilege as a white male and why I'm documenting it so that I can be part of the solution rather than part of the problem.

Helping my dad with some hay at the farm and reflecting on how my views of what I'm capable of are changing as well as the unbelievable opportunity we have as teachers to improve our society through students.

I reflect on being a full time daddy day care and a conversation I had with strangers about education.

I reflect on a 'aha' moment when leaving the grocery store and share how this new(ish) perspective could help me be a more credible teacher with my students and their parents/guardians.

I document my thoughts on how the year ended pretty emotionally (and why) and how the process of receiving a note/gift card from a student is humbling when considering the responsibilities of life, etc.

I share how I've grown to become more comfortable telling co-workers about the credible teacher and that changing perspective is really a lot of what we're doing as teachers...and how our summers help us be more credible teachers.

I share how the last day with students went and a couple things that I did today that I wanted to document like offering students a hug or high five as they leave for the summer. 😊
