Credit card security codes (CSC) are critical for preventing fraud during transactions, particularly online. These codes are not stored post-transaction to prevent hacking. The CSC, found on the back of the card, is used to verify physical possession of the card during transactions. Protection measures should be taken to secure card information, and sharing of CSC should be limited to trusted transactions. Despite their benefits, CSCs have limitations and cannot prevent all types of fraud, such as phishing attacks.
