Meg Lanning has started the Rebel WBBL tournament in style leading the Melbourne Stars to back to back victories against the Brisbane Heat. There were plenty of positives for the Heat to take out of the encounters but it was the class of Lanning that shone as the skipper was the standout scoring valuable runs in both fixtures.

This week on Rhema FM in Newcastle, Shayne Holstein caught up with Matt Ellis to wrap up the historic Day Night test Match as well as the WNCL Final played between the Breezair SA Scorpions and the Lendlease Breakers from NSW. As well as this we look at the leading performers in both the Test Series and WNCL competition.

Grace Harris was outstanding for QLD in their victory over WA on Sunday but it wasn't enough to propel the Fire into the WNCL Final. South Australia were too good for Tasmania with Tahlia McGrath impressing with the willow for the Scorpions. NSW were at their dominant best ensuring they finished top of the ladder after an impressive ten wicket victory over the Vic Spirit.

With the Final of the WNCL coming up next weekend between the Lend Lease Breakers and the Breezair SA Scorpions we take a look at the matches played last Saturday. South Australia were up against QLD, Tasmania took on WA and NSW did battle with the ACT. Have a listen to how it all panned out in another exciting round of the WNCL competition.

Ellyse Perry was the star for the Lend Lease Breakers as they climbed their way back into the top spot on the WNCL ladder with an impressive win over Tasmania at the Blundstone Arena over the weekend.

It was another impressive round of action in the Women's National Cricket League over the weekend with the ACT Meteors shining with some important victories. Not to be overshadowed, the Lend Lease Breakers were back to their best claiming some bonus points in an emphatic display against QLD in Sydney. The Alcohol Think Again. Western Fury secured their first victory of the season with an impressive display from Nicole Bolton and Elyse Villani with the willow laying the foundation for a victory to remember. The BreezAir SA Scorpions were able to hold on in a nail biter securing victory over Victoria. The League ladder suggests that this season is going to be one of the more closely contested competitions we have seen. Have a listen as we wrap all the action from the weekend matches.

The WNCL Competition is one of the most even in years with all teams looking to make their mark early in the season. We have a look at the matches coming up as part of Round two of the season.

NSW entered the Final of the 2015 Matador Cup as raging favourites with a roster unparalleled in Domestic Cricket. The Southern Redbacks under new coach Jamie Siddons have turned over a new leaf and played an impressive brand of cricket to make their way to the decider. We wrap up the action from the Final played between NSW and South Australia from the picturesque North Sydney Oval on October 25.

The final three matches in the opening round of the WNCL saw some magnificent displays with the willow, most notably a magnificent century from Meg Lanning for the Vic Spirit in their victory over the ACT. Danni Wyatt set things alight in this game also with some rapid fire runs for Victoria. Nicole Bolton continued her form with the bat notching 71 for the Fury but it was the Scorpions who reigned supreme with Sophie Devine claiming the impressive figures of 4-16.
