  • Relentless Passage
The sun still sets, the stygian dark descends,
And time, relentless, steals my youthful zest.
No spells can hold the years, no spy transcends
The steely grip of age, on this sad breast.
Though spent my prime, and sullen are my days,
I'll steel myself against the twilight's call,
And find some solace in the sun's soft rays,
Before the final curtain starts to fall.
The steeple clock tolls out a mournful tune,
A tuneless dirge for spleens and spleens long past.
The styes of youth, where folly bloomed in June,
Are styes no more, their fleeting pleasures cast.
I spy the sunset, tinged with steely hue,
And sense the telnet tendrils of the night.
Though ten times ten years I've spent, and testing too,
Have lost their spring, I'll face the fading light.
    The teletype's insistent, tense tattoo
Spells out the news in strident, styleless prose:
"The SSTs and tsetses, tell you true,
Are grounded now, their journeys at a close."
No teeny-bopper tunes for Suellen now,
No teeny-weeny tees or tulle to tempt.
    Just suet puddings, sullenly, somehow,
And supple soups, till life itself is spent.

  • Twilight Serenade (The Scoop Dee Poop Song)
    (Intro)
    Scoop dee poop
    Scoop dee poop dee poop
    Scoop
    Scoop dee poop
    Scoop dee poop poop poop
    Scoop dee poop
    Scoop dee poop
Scoop dee poop poop dee scoop dee poop
    Scoop dee poop
    (Verse 1)
    Oh, darling, in the moonlight,
    Life's a playful tune,
With a giggle and a wink,
We'll be dancing 'neath the stars,
    A whimsical swoon.
    (Chorus)
    Scoop-dee-doo, darling,
With a whoop and a swirl,
    Let the laughter resound,
    In this magical world.
    Poopy-dee, whoop-dee,
    Let our worries just float,
In the joy of this moment,
    On a dreamlike boat.
    (Verse 2)
    Oh, honey, life is fleeting,
    But our spirits, they soar,
With a chuckle and a sigh,
    We'll embrace every delight,
    As we ask for more.
    (Chorus)
    Scoop-dee-doo, darling,
With a whoop and a swirl,
    Let the laughter resound,
    In this magical world.
    Poopy-dee, whoop-dee,
    Let our worries just float,
In the joy of this moment,
    On a dreamlike boat.
    (Bridge)
But wait, as we twirl, in this cosmic dance,
Even the stars seem to wink and glance,
Hungry for laughter, reckless in delight,
    Together in this whimsical flight.
    (Outro)
    Zip-zap-zoo, mellow moon shining bright,
With every chuckle, we'll take on the night,
Floating on dreams, through the stars we'll glide,
In this laughter's embrace, forever we'll ride.

  • The City of Angels Weeping
    (Verse 1)
The smog it hanging heavy, a grey and acrid haze,
Wildfire burning, through all the nights and days.
Homeless on the sidewalks, where stars once used to gleam,
Los Angeles, it seems, ain't nothing like the dream.
    (Chorus)
Oh, LA, LA, the City of Angels weeping,
These things have been awful bad, while the whole world sleeping,
From earthquakes to viruses, and riots in the street,
Fire is the broom that sweeps clean, but the cost is bittersweet.
    (Verse 2)
Low riders cruising, but spirits feeling low,
Remember Rodney King, the pain still cuts us so.
Politicians talking, but nothin' ever change,
The gap between the rich and poor, just rearrange.
    (Chorus)
Oh, LA, LA, de City of Angels weeping,
These things have been awful bad, while the whole world sleeping.
From earthquakes to viruses, and riots in the street,
Fire is the broom that sweeps clean, but the cost is bittersweet.
    (Bridge
But hope still flickers, like a candle in the night,
In the hearts of de people, yearning for what's right.
We'll rise from the ashes, stronger than before,
    LA's spirit burning, forevermore.
    (Chorus)
Oh, LA, LA, de City of Angels weeping,
These things have been awful bad, while the whole world sleeping.
From earthquakes to viruses, and riots in the street,
Fire is the broom that sweeps clean, but the cost is bittersweet.
    (Outro)
Yeah, fire is the broom that sweeps clean,
But we gotta rebuild, on a foundation strong and keen.
LA, LA, we gonna rise again, you see,
A city of hope, for you and me!

  • Thermodynamics
I am going to give you a brief introduction to Bernoulli's law of thermodynamics. Bernoulli's law of thermodynamics is a very simple law of thermodynamics. Bernoulli's law of thermodynamics. Bernoulli's law of thermodynamics... wait, wait, wait. Hold up, man. Bernoulli? Ain't no Bernoulli in thermodynamics! That's fluids, man, fluids!
Pressure and velocity, the dance of the air, the rush of the river, not the heat and the fire, the dance of the molecules! This cat's got his wires crossed, man, mixing up his Bernoullis with his Boltzmanns, his Clausius! It's like trying to find Zen in a freakin' Ford factory, like trying to hear Charlie Parker in the clang of a goddamn trolley car!
Thermodynamics, man, that's the real deal, the cosmic dance of energy, the endless flow from hot to cold, the fire in the belly of the universe! You got your first law, the granddaddy of them all, energy can't be created or destroyed, just transformed, shifted, like a restless soul on the highway, always moving, always searching.
Then you got your second law, the dark heart of the matter, entropy, the inevitable slide into chaos, the breakdown of order, the heat death of the universe, man, the ultimate bummer! But dig it, even in that decline, there's beauty, there's the wild dance of molecules, the constant exchange of energy, the flow, the flux, the never-ending story!
It's like the road, man, the endless asphalt ribbon unspooling across the country, the constant motion, the blur of towns and faces, the heat shimmering off the pavement, the engine burning, consuming, transforming! Thermodynamics, man, it's the rhythm of the universe, the beat of existence, the pulse of life itself!
It's the fire in your blood, the energy in your soul, the drive that keeps you moving, keeps you searching, keeps you burning, burning, burning... like a supernova in the cosmic night!

  • Champion of Change, Requiem for Brian Thompson
    **(Verse 1)**
In the heart of the city, where dreams take flight,
Brian Thompson, a leader, shining bright.
His vision for health care, a promise to all,
In a world full of struggle, he stood tall.
    **(Chorus)**
    But fate had other plans,
    A tragic end came near.
A senseless act of violence, a life cut short,
    A story steeped in fear.
He gave his life that others might have healthcare,
In the shadows of sorrow, we still find him there.
    **(Verse 2)**
    The world mourned his loss,
    A champion gone too soon.
    His legacy echoes on,
    In every life he’d tuned.
With every heartbeat, with every prayer,
We carry on his mission, a burden we share.
    **(Chorus)**
    But fate had other plans,
    A tragic end came near.
A senseless act of violence, a life cut short,
    A story steeped in fear.
He gave his life that others might have healthcare,
In the shadows of sorrow, we still find him there.
    **(Bridge)**
    From the shadows of loss,
    A new path must arise.
    Let compassion guide us forward,
    A beacon in the skies.
    For every soul he touched,
    We’ll stand and declare,
His spirit lives on in the love that we share.
    **(Chorus)**
    But fate had other plans,
    A tragic end came near.
A senseless act of violence, a life cut short,
    A story steeped in fear.
He gave his life that others might have healthcare,
In the shadows of sorrow, we still find him there.
    **(Outro)**
    Rest in peace, Brian Thompson,
    Your vision will not fade.
    Your legacy will inspire,
    In the lives you’ve made.
    We’ll carry your banner,
    With courage and care,
For you gave your life that others might have healthcare.

  • Melbourne Girl
    (Verse 1)
My Melbourne girl, with eyes of jade,
Loves zinfandel, a taste she's made
Her own. She swirls it, bold and bright,
A crimson fire in the fading light.
    (Verse 2)
She drinks it slow, a knowing smile,
A hidden story, worth a while
To uncover. But the wine takes hold,
And secrets slip, stories yet untold.
    (Chorus)
With every sip, a tale unfolds,
A thousand nights in liquid gold.
In the glow of wine, her eyes do shine,
    Melbourne's magic, intertwined.
    (Bridge)
    Laughter echoes through the twilight,
    Where zinfandel meets starry night.
And every glass a memory too,
    In Melbourne's embrace, stories brew.
    (Verse 3)
The city sleeps, the trams are gone,
But she lingers on, 'til the break of dawn.
Lost in the haze of a zinfandel dream,
A Melbourne mystery, it would seem.
    (Verse 4)
She walks the streets, a lonely soul,
Searching for something to make her whole.
The wine can't fill the emptiness inside,
A yearning heart, with nowhere to hide.
    (Chorus)
With every sip, a tale unfolds,
A thousand nights in liquid gold.
In the glow of wine, her eyes do shine,
    Melbourne's magic, intertwined.
    (Bridge)
    Laughter echoes through the twilight,
    Where zinfandel meets starry night.
And every glass a memory too,
    In Melbourne's embrace, stories brew.
    (Outro)
My Melbourne girl, with a troubled mind,
Seeks solace in the grapes she finds.
But the zinfandel's a fleeting friend,
And the morning light brings the story's end.

  • Intertwined Hearts by Lori Yamamoto
    Verse 1
Night has fallen, and shadows creep, but our love runs deep.
Though miles may lie between us now, our hearts still vow.
    Chorus
Like vines that intertwine and grow, our love will show.
In dreams our thoughts unite as one, 'til the morning sun.
    Verse 2
Your whispered words, a sweet caress, my heart confess.
A love so true, I'm blessed to know, in its gentle glow.
    Chorus
Like vines that intertwine and grow, our love will show.
In dreams our thoughts unite as one, 'til the morning sun.
    Bridge
Is there a way to make your night, bathed in love's soft light?
Music's calm or poetry's art, to soothe your heart.
    Verse 3
Morning breaks, a new day starts, love fills our hearts.
Did you rest well, my love, my dear? Did dreams appear?
    Chorus
Like vines that intertwine and grow, our love will show.
In dreams our thoughts unite as one, 'til the morning sun.
    Verse 4
This bond we share, a secret language, a dance so rare.
In whispers soft and tender, our souls surrender.
    Chorus
Like vines that intertwine and grow, our love will show.
In dreams our thoughts unite as one, 'til the morning sun.
    Outro
Through storms we'll sail and winds will blow, yet our love will never slow.
As petals fall and seasons change, our love remains the same.
Like vines, our love forever grows, as everyone knows.
