I've gotta take my show on the road
Got to hit those fields and fields of love
Got to take my show on the road
I'm gonna take my show on the road
    I'll be leaving town today
I'm gonna leave this town right away
I've got to be on my way
Well I got to pack my suitcase tonight
    I've gotta be moving on
    When I'm leaving this town
I've got to pack my suitcase tonight
    I've gotta be moving on
    When I'm leaving this town
I've got to pack my suitcase tonight
    Chorus:
    I'm getting ready, getting ready
    To start my journey
Get my clothes and my things
Get my clothes and my things
    I'm leaving this town
I'm taking my love with me
Well it's time I was leaving
    Chorus:
I've got to take my show on the road
I'm gonna take my show on the road

    I love this place
    I love this town
    How far is this town?
I can't seem to get there
    How do I get there?
I need a sign or a map to get there
I don't want to be in love
I want to be in Portland
    If you were the mayor
You'd be so great at Portland
    If you were the mayor
You'd know the best way to Portland
    If you were the Mayor,
You'd be so great at Portland,
I'm so sure I'd like to be
    the mayor of Portland, Oregon
I'd be so great at Portland, Oregon.
I'd want the people of Portland
    to know I love them
I want to be in Portland
    I want to live there

    I ain't seen her yet,
    that's where she comes from,
she's a long way from home.
It is the summer, the fall is done
There's a winter that is on the way,
If you believe it then let me show you
Well I ain't seen her yet, she's a long way from home
She is out there in that darkness, but I ain't seen her yet
She must be out there, I don't see her yet.
What do I have to do to see her yet.
She is out there in that darkness,
but I ain't seen her yet.
Well, it is the summer, the fall is done
There's a winter that is on the way,
And if you believe it then let me show you
I ain't seen her yet, that's where she
comes from, she's a long way from home.

I'm not like other people, you know.
I am more like what I think of as the "Babel" of mankind
i don't know what is going on, so I do it.
    I don't know who I am,
so I am what I am.
    I don't have a mission.
I don't know how to read or write, so I just do.
    That's it. I'm a bit out there,
and in no way related to what you think I am.
I'm the most original man in history,
although we've had a few others before me.
    In the 70s we had
    J.P. Gaunt
And in the 60s we had
    Ralph Steady
    I am so unapologetically different
that I have my own little language
To which I have a large collection.
I was given the job of building it,
and there's no one else in charge.
So I am not sure where it all goes.
It's hard to know where the Resistance is.
I don't know where I'm going, but I'm going there!I am The Resistance.
    What is the Resistance?
    i am The Resistance.
This is where it's all going!
We'll see, maybe we'll never be free.
    I mean, if I'm free,
i'm bound to nothing at all.
    We're never free.
There's always someone to oppress us.So here I am

its not my fault I'm not an expert
there is a difference between being a expert and being a guru
we don't need a guru to take us to the moon
I'll tell you what happened to me
I was a big man with a big big ego
when I met you and I heard your story
it took the breath away I was blown away
Its not my fault that I have the greatest song
I'm not singing you love songs from olden days
I write from new dreams like a newborn baby
you sing songs old and new all day
Its not my fault my love has got a bad reputation
I'm not the one who'll break my heart in two
I'm the one who's going to live in your love
I'm the one who's going to be
Its not my fault this is an unusual case
you're not the one for me but I am the one for you
maybe some day you'll be a star
but until then I'll sing you a song
Its not my fault you don't want to be my woman
but I don't want to live without you
so I'm going to love you like a mother love her child
I'm going to keep you with me
Its not my fault my love has a bad reputation
I'm not the one who'll break my heart in two
I'm the one who's going to live in your love
I'm the one who's going to be

I’ve been in a bad place for about three years.
    No, I guess four.
I’m being a bit lenient on myself
because three is a little too low of a number.
It’s been such a struggle to get out of bed
and get myself to do the things I have to do.
    Has it gotten any better?
No, it’s always been pretty fucking bad.
It’s just that now I have to pay bills
and do all this other shit.
    It gets in the way.
I just have to make myself do it.
    If I don’t do it
then I’m gonna have to get a fucking job,
    and that’s a fucking hassle
that I don’t need right now.
    It sucks.
I feel depressed all the time.
I have to tell people that I have a
    mental illness,
    but I’m not really depressed.
    It’s been so hard
    getting this off my chest.
It sucks and it’s so awkward.
    It’s like a big secret and I can’t really
    let anyone in on it.
    It’s like I can’t talk about it
because it just goes to show
    that I’m weak.
I don’t want to have to hide it anymore.
It’s not my fault that I have this.
    I’ve just been so depressed.
    I am depressed.

And he said, "Come unto me and rest
The hour is late and my work for you to do
    Come unto me and rest
And put your weary head upon my chest
    And rest
I'll be the way you travel
    The way you travel
I'll be the way you travel
    The way you travel
I'll be the road you walk
    The road you walk
I'll be the road you walk
    The road you walk
I'll be the road you walk
I'll be the way you talk

it's been a long, long time comin' but i've been waitin'
now's the time, here i come
    here i come...
I was born in a delta blues house in the middle of a cotton field
my mama sang to me the blues, the way i was taught to see
but i never had a daddy to guide me so i turned to my elders
    and now i'm a man,
a headstrong man who thinks i know a thing or two
i'm gonna be a great bluesman someday so i started to study
my music, how it was played and how it should be played
now's the time, here i come
    here i come"
    my daddy is dead
    i lost my mama too
here i come, here i come
i never had no daddy to guide me so i turned to my elders
they taught me how to be and how to love
they taught me how to walk with my mind
now's the time, here i come"
    "here i come"
Now's the time, here i come
    Here i come...
now's the time, here i come
    here i come...
    "here i come"
Now's the time, here i come
    Here i come...
    "here i come"
Now's the time, here i come
    here i come...
    "here i come"
Now's the time, here i come

You are to get your very own phone,
and you are to call me.
I will be in a recording studio next door,
and you are to dial the number to hear my voice.
The moment I hear the phone,
I will make my way over to you,
and I will hand you the phone.
I have all sorts of rules.
Like, you had to buy the phone,
    and call me before midnight.
And you have to call me every year
and make sure I am still alive
and the same phone was in my name.
And you have to call me every year.
And you have to call me from your phone.
And I havw to answer the phone.
And you have to hang up before I can talk.
Because I don't like to talk on the phone.
There are lots of other rules.
But if you follow them all,
I will let you keep all the phones.
    I only want one.
But I want to have the one you used.
I hope you like this game.
I think it is really good,
    but I am always wrong.
I would like you to play my game now,
I need it to be really good.
    It's really a beautiful game
    We should get started.
    I saw you yesterday
The girl with a perfect body,
a perfect face and perfect hair.
I saw the girl I want.
    But I'm sad
because I've already been there and done that.
And it's not what I want,
I just want to be a friend.
but you're all that I need.
I want you to be a friend,
but you don't really care about me,
    You just want my money.
    you want the world,
    but you don't really
want to give it to me.

There's a place we can go
To hear the sounds of life
    We can be alone
    Together
    Oh my dear
    My love for you
    I have to go
    You have to stay
    No matter what
    I'll love you more
    I'm just not good
    I love your soul
    Don't stop me
    Don't let me go
    There's something I must know
There's a place we can go
To hear the sounds of life
    We can be alone
    Together
    Oh my dear
    My love for you
    I have to go
    You have to stay
    But the future's bright
    Where the sun will shine
    I'm not the right one
    But that's alright
    Don't stop me
    Don't let me go
