Today, we’re beginning with the basics—an introduction to the field of criminal justice. It’s an examination of what it is, why it matters, how a society defines crime, how it responds to it, and what that says about power, equity, and public safety. I will also touch on how it continues to evolve in a response to social, legal, technological change and the pressing challenges that demand continued scholarly and public attention.
