How did the people of Jesus' day view the coming of the Messiah? What misconceptions did they have? What misconceptions do we have about Jesus? 

In this session, we will examine the beginnings statements of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. How does each of the gospels paint a unique perspective of Jesus? How are they similar?

As we embark on a study through the gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, we heed the summons to "Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world." 

As we peer deeper into the call of discipleship, we will explore the book of Isaiah, standing in awe of the God who confronts our modern sensibilities. 

How does Jesus' definition of discipleship and calling confront our modern understanding of what it means to be a follower of Christ? 

Who were the disciples chosen by Jesus? In this episode, we explore the grace of Christ's calling the 12, what it shows us about our Lord, and what it ultimately meant for each of these followers. 

Will Boaz become the kinsman-redeemer? Will Naomi find fullness? Will Ruth find rest? Chapter 4 brings to fruition deep contrasts traded throughout the book of Ruth.

What do we do with Naomi's plan, Ruth's approach, and Boaz's reaction at the threshing floor scene in Ruth chapter 3? Do the ends justify the means? How do we ensure that as believers, both the ends and the means of our plans glorify God and show Him clearly in the world? How does Ruth chapter 3 point us to the greater work of a greater Kinsman-Redeemer who is both the end and the means of our salvation?

What does the second chapter of the book of Ruth reveal about the character of both Ruth and Boaz? What truths can we glean about the difficulties of living during the Period of the Judges? How does this chapter point us to the wonders of Christ? 

The book of Ruth has often been referred to as the "lily in the mud pond of the period of the Judges." In this session, we will examine the life of Naomi's family, their conditions, peril, responses to tragedy, and the beautiful picture of faithfulness seen in Ruth.
