For this Bible Study, we are considering the words of this week’s Old Testament Lesson. . .1 Samuel 15:34-16:13.

The Old Testament Lesson follows an event that resulted in God removing the kingdom of Israel from Saul.

Instead of following the instructions to destroy the Amalekites to the letter, Saul and his people chose a different method.

God instructs Samuel to look for the next king amongst the sons of Jesse.

Keep in mind the reason why David was God's choice - it was not because of his physical features, but because of his heart. He was a young boy with a heart "after God's own heart", and as such his heart would make him a better man and greater king than Saul.
