This Sunday, we see that sin is not behaviour or desire, but a crouching beast within whose insatiable desire is to consume its host. Where Cain foolishly feeds the creature and becomes enslaved by it, Jesus - fully human and without sin - starves the beast in life, absorbs its full power of death on the cross, and breaks its rule through resurrection so that sin no longer reigns over those in him.
