Elaine M. Brannon LMSW, C-AWCM, CCM, a recurring guest, will provide a deeper insight of her 35 years of experience in the following roles: Child Protective Investigator, Foster Care Social Worker + Supervisor, Service Coordinator with People with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, Manager of Early Childhood Education, and Hospital Social Worker.
Trauma by it nature, "involves root inequities that often drive and exacerbate adverse conditions or traumatic events within families, and thus the behavioral issues that bloom in the classroom (Eliss, 2020 p 53).
Ellis (2020) states it's not just adverse experiences at the individual level that we must consider when thinking about our students but compounding stressors at the community level, including violence, racism, discrimination, and lack of economic mobility, report to class with our kids" (p 53).
