The Cultured Pull List

Welcome back to another episode of The Cultured Pull List! This week we're covering part of Chip Zdarksy's recent Batman run, focusing on the android Failsafe that was designed specifically to kill Batman and neutralize anyone or anything that gets in its way! We had a lot of fun with this week's book, and we hope you enjoy yourself too!

We also talked about a fun DC one-shot 'Nightwing/Morilla Gorilla Special', and the direct follow-up to 'The Death of Superman', 'Funeral for a Friend'.

With Matthew Vaughn’s new movie ‘Argylle’ now out in theaters, we went back to the comic that inspired Vaughn’s first spy thriller: ‘Kingsman: The Secret Service’. While Mark Millar and Matthew Vaughn collaborated somewhat on the original story, there are still many differences between the original comic and the movie. From characters, events, locations, and style, ‘The Secret Service’ is almost a completely different story that we’re going to unpack this week! In this episode we also talk about the newly released issues ‘Titans: Beast World’ #6 and DC’s ‘Trinity Special’ #1.

With the 'Echo' series now out on Disney+ and Hulu, we're covering Maya Lopez's first appearance in the comics, dating back to the 1999 Daredevil comics. While there are many similarities between the comic version of Maya Lopez and the MCU version, there are some big differences as well. In this episode we break down Echo's original story arc and how it compares to her appearances in 'Hawkeye' and 'Echo'. In this epsiode we also discussed the mini-series 'Green Arrow: Year One' and the new issues 'Avengers: Twilight #1' and 'Ultimate Spider-Man #1'
