In this episode, I discuss the problem of violent orders given to ancient hebrews by their God in the old testament (or jewish bible). I give my reasons for finding such passages inconsistent with the nature of the Christian God (as understood by me) and I consider multiple ways of dealing with these passages. A jewish view by Rabbi Tovia Singer, a traditional christian view by Clay Jones and Alissa Childers and a progressive christian view by Randal Rauser and Peter Enns are all considered in this episode. I have a conversation with Ayotunde Omole and Daniel Adeyinka on the topic of hell. We explore the views of hell they take and try to figure out which is more consistent with the Bible. Ayotunde Omole and Daniel Adeyinka are both devout Christians and lovers of the Bible but have come up with quite different interpretations of what the Bible says about hell.
