Long podcast but filled with great information and amazing discussion! As always, I am joined by Alex Andrews. Special guest Evan Wray (sports betting connoisseur, college football extraordinaire, and avid golfer) joins us for the first time and provides great insight on all topics presented. For ease of access, I have split it into segments for listeners that cannot listen in full. I have listed descriptions and time stamps below so you can listen and find the clips accordingly:
After introductions, we begin with talking about the bottom of the top 25 (Washington, UK, FSU, UCF, Illinois). We discuss teams listed right outside the rankings, and also talk about a certain team that all three of us believe should have been left out (and why they were included). Included in this segment is a discission on the Miami football program, what it will take to fix that program, and also mentioning NIL and how it has impacted the Miami program and the Texas A&M program. We end off with talking about Notre Dame and what they would gain by joining a Power 5 Conference, with that conversation carrying over into the next clip.
We start off by finishing our Notre Dame discussion, talking about the tier system in college football, the ability of Notre Dame to recruit athletes, and Notre Dame's highs and lows this year. We then talk about the two Big 12 teams back-to-back (Kansas State and Texas) and their performances thus far, plus their remaining schedule and how the future of Texas football looks. We touch on Tulane and the breakout year they are having, then move to the ACC realm to talk about NC State and UNC and the woes of the ACC this year. Following that, we mention Penn State and talk about their schedule and how the season has progressed for them, and then finish in the realm of the PAC-12. Included in the PAC-12 discussion is the discussion on if UCLA is underrated and some spicy takes from Evan on Oregon football.
We start off by finishing the PAC-12 discussion by touching on USC before moving onto Clemson to talk about last week's performance and hear from the perspective of a Notre Dame fan. We continue on the Clemson topic to talk about what needs to happen to get that program back where it was for the past 5-10 years with Deshaun Watson and Trevor Lawrence under center. We spend the rest of the time in this segment talking about the SEC and the numerous teams towards the top (Ole Miss, Bama, LSU, Tennessee, and Georgia). We spend a chunk of time talking about the two matchups that included four of these teams in the form of the LSU vs Bama upset and the Georgia vs Tennessee game. We discuss what it would reasonably take for Tennessee or possibly LSU to make the CFP before moving into our next segment.
Two Big Ten fans talk Big Ten football in the form of OSU and Michigan. We talk about the issues that OSU faced against Northwestern this past week, along with the inevitable giant matchup that will be the Michigan v OSU game for a spot in the CFP. We also talk scenarios where both could make it in, and how that contest would look in a playoff contest. Moving on from that, we shift over to quickly talking about our picks for the Heisman and what that race looks like as of now. To end the entire podcast, we talk about the future of college football in the form of a 12 team playoff, the parameters of that playoff, and what it would look like if that was a selection made today.
Once again, thank you guys for listening in, and we really hope you enjoy!
