The Dagger Basketball

Opening week is here, so we’re putting our names on every award — Most Improved, Sixth Man, Coach of the Year, Rookie of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year and MVP. A favorite and a dark horse from each of us.Three different MVP picks. Three different Rookie of the Year picks. The only thing we agree on is Wemby for Defensive Player of the Year.Plus Hooper of the Week and the Good Hustle Award — the Knicks rings, the Jalen Hurts situation, and a middle school football game.

Tip-off is a week away, so we’re putting our names on everything. Top four in each conference, our pick to come out of each, the teams we think overperform, the ones we think fall apart, who sneaks into the playoffs and who misses entirely. We also get into the teams we genuinely can’t read yet.Hooper of the Week and the Good Hustle Award are back for the first time since the restart!

Giannis is a Heat. LeBron is a Sixer. The Knicks are champions. We took two years off and came back to a league we barely recognize — so we're reacting to all of it: the Knicks title run, SGA's MVP, Boston trading Jaylen Brown, Giannis to Miami, the Kawhi investigation, LaMelo to Minnesota, Ja to Portland, and whatever Washington is building. Not experts, not objective, not holding back. New episodes weekly!
