The Beatitudes will continue on February 7th... Listen and follow along as Cole, Elijah, Tucker and Colin join me to discuss (at their request) dating advice for teens from a biblical perspective.
The Beatitudes will continue on February 7th... Starting out as a dad of 3 daughters, and now 7 children, 5 girls and 2 boys, I am always concerned about the type of person they will end up with, the type of person they will be, and whether that will aid or hinder their spiritual growth.
It’s a relatively difficult thing to conceptualize right now. Too much of a cloud has been cast over what is considered appropriate behavior, what is considered toxic, what is considered extreme regarding conservatism and liberalism, and the general outlook of outside people that think they have a say in how you conduct your life. Most of these outside people think they have influence, and unfortunately, too many times people allow the influence of naysayers or negativity to guide their conscience. This is the major issue I would say is at the heart of dating, or finding “your person.”
What is the influence you will use as your guide for how you’ll behave and what you’ll expect?

I saw a FB post that said “I was brainwashed by a legalistic church for almost a decade. The internal struggle it caused made me a very anxious person. Thankfully I was able to recognize it and heal.”
First of all, this is a very victimhood approach. The assertion that the intent of the church you attended, at your own will, was to brainwash you.
Second, the necessity of personal accountability is non-existent in this statement.
Lastly, there is only one way to get brainwashed, and that is to expect the church you go to, to tell you what to do.
2 Timothy 2:15 says “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
It’s no one else’s job to study for you, it’s no one else’s job to divide the word for you. This is one of those passages that makes the personal accountability of knowing what is in the bible and places it squarely on you. It’s one of the reasons why there is such a heavy influence in my mind that the place you go to for worship pales in comparison to what you bring to it. I’m not suggesting you can just go to any church, but I do think there are righteous people from many different religious backgrounds, and it’s not my place to speculate whether they will be judged to hell simply based on the building they walk in for worship.

Jesus told Satan: "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God."
We need to put on the whole armor of God so we can stand against the wiles of the…
That begins with a daily dose of nourishment that can only come from the Word of God!!!
