No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.

Why is it so easy to admire longsuffering and patience in others, but refuse to exhibit it within ourselves?  Patience is like protection against wrongs like clothes do for the cold.  So just like when it’s cold you bundle up by putting on more layers, you have to gird yourself up and continuously layer yourself with patience.

Romans 12:12 - Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.  

God calls us to be his workmanship, to demonstrate virtues that are pleasing to him. It is impossible to be virtuous without contentment.

Philippians 4:6-7 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Throughout the gospels, Jesus clearly gets portrayed as a very patient man. After all, He was surrounded by disciples who constantly doubted him, Pharisees and Sadducees who continually attacked Him, and large crowds who wouldn’t leave Him alone. Despite all of that, He kept His composure and responded appropriately to every individual.

1 Peter 2:22-24 'Who committed no sin, nor was deceit found in His mouth”; who, when He was reviled, did not revile in return; when He suffered, He did not threaten, but committed Himself to Him who judges righteously

Philipians 4:13 - For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.
