Kudos to Mr. Colombel for his solar project. I hope he succeeds. Opposition is following the timeworn NIMBY pattern: solar energy is great, just Not Here. Linda R. Bard, 82, of Red Hook, died on August 5, 2025, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. Linda was born in Rhinebeck on July 29, 1943, and graduated from Red Hook High School in 1962. She worked as a secretary at the Hudson River State Hospital in Poughkeepsie for over 20 years. A 22-year-old employee at Anderson Center for Autism has been arrested on a misdemeanor charge after allegedly trying to restrain a resident last Saturday. State Police reported that, on Aug. 2, at approximately 10:37 a.m., a staff member at Anderson, located in Staatsburgh, reported a resident exhibiting visible bruising. An investigation conducted by uniformed troopers and the Bureau of Criminal Investigation determined that a staff member, identified as Deijeanae S. Edwards, 22, of Poughkeepsie, had held a pillow against a resident’s face while restraining the individual’s arm. Patricia Ann Foster died at Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck on Aug. 1, 2025. Born on June 15, 1937, in Gloversville, NY, she was the daughter of Harold and Elanor (Argersinger) Greene. Patricia lived in Rhinebeck for several years before moving to Kingston in the mid-1970s. She later spent time in Colorado with her daughter before returning to the Hudson Valley and settling in Staatsburg with her son. A creative soul, Patricia was especially talented with coloring and continued to enjoy it until just six months before her passing. The State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) has suspended thousands of dollars in fines it had levied on the Village of Red Hook for violations at its wastewater treatment plant, leaving just ,000 for the Village to pay. The village, which originally faced a ,800 penalty, still faces the prospect of stricter state oversight under a finalized consent order issued by environmental regulators over violations at the plant.
