He held a press briefing on Monday announcing various measures he will be applying to improve conditions for those living under the metropolitan. He spoke about his plans to reclaim hijacked buildings, dealing with the water crises and the financial state of the metro. On a positive note, the City won an award this week for the top performing project at the annual Association of Municipal Electricity Utilities 69th Conference held in Gauteng on Tuesday.

Justice and Correctional Services Minister Ronald Lamola will be launching the Masters’ Deceased Estate Online Registration System next week. The department says that the system aims to bring services closer and speedily to clients across the country thereby enhancing access to justice. The Commission on Restitution of Land Rights plays an important role in the processing and restitution of land in South Africa. In recent months, the Commission has kicked off its “Know the Status of your Land Claim” campaign. The campaign has called for members of communities who have lodged their land claims (cut-off December 1998) to visit the commission’s offices to check the status reports of their outstanding claims.
