South Africa’s police service is in for a major reset. Acting Police Minister Firoz Cachalia has unveiled the Police Reset Agenda — a plan that includes four new police commissioners, 140 high-crime priority stations and an additional 5,500 police constables. The minister is also rolling out a National Organised Crime Strategy, in a bid to put SAPS on a new path and tackle the country’s escalating crime crisis.
