Hopes and dreams drive us. Motivate us. They get us up for an early morning run and out the door on a sub-zero day on the Daily Grind, your new weekly motivational podcast. This episode features Kelly Johnson and special guest Paul Maurer! Maurer is a Milwaukee native, chiropractor, runner, and accomplished author of ‘The Unforgiving Line.’ Maurer currently lives and works in the Milwaukee area. In today's episode, Maurer shares his running background, his inspiration to write novels, and how balances his busy schedule to fit publishing his latest novel, ‘The Unforgiving Line,’ about a distance running warrior Mac who cannot erase his failure at the worst of times: the 1968 Olympic trials fifteen-hundred meters and D.J., a talented but emotionally fractured sixteen-year old, carrying scars garnered from a troubled home life. Mac and D.J. form an unlikely pairing, but each carries the other on a path that encounters rejection, failure, and broken dreams in the quest of finding love and redemption. Maurer also reveals what it takes to become a writer, best practices for young writers, and the journey behind turning an idea you brainstorm on a training run into one amazing, 299-page running novel. Also, Episode 27 is our first live podcast recorded at MKE Run Fit Fest in Milwaukee, WI. If you would like to view this episode video, please visit: https://youtu.be/B3ljdODqT80
