President Barack Obama addressed the nation for one final time, and he did it from here in Chicago. Our Sam Bernitz went down to the president’s last speech to hear the experience of Chicagoans and Northwestern students in attendance.

The Northwestern community suffered a loss this week. Sophomore Jordan Hankins, former guard on the women’s basketball team, passed away on Monday. Audio Editor Corey Mueller works with the team and offers a tribute to Jordan’s life.

Basketball season just kicked off, but the start hasn't been smooth for the Northwestern men's basketball team. One contributing factor is that former NU basketball player Johnnie Vassar is bringing a class-action lawsuit agains Northwestern and the NCAA for mistreatment and unreasonable transfer rules.

A big week for sports news at NU, our Bobby Pillote reported about a new $260 million project to bring a practice fieldhouse to campus. We talked to Bobby to get a better idea of the project, and to hear about responses from NU community members.

Baseball history was made this offseason when the Chicago Cubs won their first World Series title since 1908. A team of Northwestern students went out to capture the sounds of the celebration when the Cubs brought the championship trophy home.

One way to describe this election, as we heard over and over again on broadcast television, was "historic." But how do our students really feel? Our reporters went to a protest the night of the election and went out the day after to capture the somber mood.

A different problem has been shaping up on this quarter, one we've been calling Moldgate. Many students on campus have found mold in their living spaces; whether that be in the ceiling or in their furniture, mold has popped up in a few dorms across campus.

It’s not uncommon for NU students to register to vote in Illinois as this is the first time many will be voting in a major election. The presidential candidates, however, aren’t the only names on the ballot. Candidates are also running for the US Senate and that’s almost important a seat to fill as the one in the White House. Our Davis Rich sat down with the Daily’s Sam Krevlin to get the scoop on the candidates.

We get so wrapped up in our politics, it’s easy to forget that there aren’t only US citizens on this campus. We talked to some of Northwestern’s international students to get their take on the presidential race, and what their views of US politics are after living through this wild election cycle.

Homecoming is a great time for many to revisit their alma mater, reliving their fondest memories. But what else brings alumni back to campus? Our Molly Glick and Syd Stone went to some of the Homecoming events this past weekend to find out.

A football game is the climax of Homecoming weekend, and with it comes our traditions. One of those traditions, jingling keys at opposing teams during kickoffs, has an uncertain past. Our Shane McKeon dug into the archives and took to the bleachers to find out just where this tradition came from and what it means.

On Monday, Evanston celebrated Indigenous People's Day, formerly known as "Columbus Day." Students and local community members gathered on campus for the holiday, but also protested in solidarity with the people in Standing Rock, North Dakota, who are against the Dakota Access Pipeline.

The Office of the Provost made changes to Women's Center earlier this year. Our Claire Fahey sits down with The Daily's Yvonne Kim, who has been following that story, to discuss what those changes are and why they were made.
