Dark Day of Abandonment (Mark 15:33–47). Jesus recites scripture prophesy from the cross holding onto the promise of God through his suffering. They have such contempt for Jesus they give him vinegar in his dying moments. Christ is truly forsaken by the Father for bearing the sins of the world. In his death is the revelation he is the Son of God. (cf. Psalm 22)

Scorning A Ludicrous Messiah  (Mark 15:21–32). We see the spectacle of a flogged man carrying his cross. Why must this world mock and hate Jesus? Who are the passerby’s today who mock and despise Christ? God is mocking all our self-righteous religious effort in his ludicrous cross which we scorn.

Binding The Saving King (Mark 15:1-20). The leaders make their plans to get tired of Jesus. The leaders of this world are afraid of the prince of peace. Whether they recognize it, Jesus is the king they say he is. The hatred of Man against God is displayed as they mock, strike, and pay homage of Jesus. Christ commits the crime of threatening their wickedness.
