"You haven't gotten over it yet because you haven't mourned the death of your dream." I think my jaw hit the floor the moment she said it. 

I had been going to acupuncture for many years, and during one of my conversations with my acupuncturist she told me I was having a hard time getting over something because I hadn't mourned the dream that would no longer be.

It sounds weird, but sometimes just having words to put to an indescribable feeling solves over half the problem.
