If you weren't fooled by the fake Bill Gates letter, which spread faster than the coronavirus, you are among the minority. It carried a message we all wanted to believe, and Gates' name was just what we needed to drink it in. It is a lesson on the importance of critical thinking at a time we need it the most.

While the world is in lock-down, Italy is in free-fall. Covid has washed across the planet leaving hardship everywhere and to everyone in its path. Italy has been the worst hit by far, but it suffers alone while every other country scrambles with its own crisis control measures.

In response to Covid negativity, isolation and "scare-mongering", people have set up virtual "care-mongering" sites on facebook, and other virtual hubs, to assist those who need specific items or favors...or just conversation.

When the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology re-opened its doors last week in an all-digital delivery method, I opened the doors beyond the moat of the learning management system, and did my lecture over Instagram live. Surprise, attendance had never been greater.

The updates seem unendingly bleak, but at least they're updates. Alberta's Chief Medical Officer Deena Hinshaw has been addressing Albertans daily since the outbreak hit home in early March. Her transparency, demeanor, and source credibility have been reassuring in the face of a crisis.

Calgary's Local Laundry, a community-driven clothing company, made a milestone decision last year to move all of its production from overseas, back to Canada, necessitating significant price increases of its product. But the decision was made easier for the owners when they reflected on their purpose.
