It has often been said since Jeff Grimes has been hired that despite the heavy run focus nature of his offense the vertical passing game will be an important component of the system. But what if the roster offers limitations that would hinder a traditional down the field passing game? In ability to create separation? An offensive line who may have problems handling speed on the edge? That's where building a passing game around a very Air Raid concept of vertical AND horizontal stress comes into play. Today we will build a play that uses key aspects of a Grimes attack while putting the defense in a constant state of conflict of assignment.

A lot has been said this off season about the lack of depth, the youth, and the overall questions that is the Wisconsin cornerback room. Borrowing an idea from the Air Raid the Jeff Grimes offense has an emphasis with getting athletes in space. Dynamic athletes likes Trech Kekahuna will be used all over the field and in unique ways that will keep defenses on their toes, and using them in motion creates plays while providing eye candy to set up other aspects of the offense. Today we dissect a play that uses the jet motion to create both an inside and outside stress on the defense allowing both speed to the edge and power at the same time.

The 2025 Wisconsin defense has to step up. Step up the play on the field, and step up the pressure if it wants to leave a dismal 2024 season in the rear view mirror. But with questions in the secondary how can the Badgers bring pressure without sacrificing coverage? By scheming their already aggressive players "open" so to speak. Using alignment and post snap movement by the defensive front you can create pressure that might not necessarily get to the QB but will force the offense into a situation that is advantageous for the defense.
