The Dan York Report

Have you planned your own funeral/memorial service yet? Does anyone know how you would like your death handled? Do you want to be buried? cremated? In this episode I reflect on how a recent experience made me realize how important thinking about these questions can be - as well as sharing that information with others.

The Jetpack plugin for WordPress now lets you publicize posts to your blog out to Google+ in addition to Twitter, Facebook and other services. In this episode I talk about the power of that and all the other features of the Jetpack plugin. More info:

We are creatures of story. We use stories to help us explain the inexplicable, to make sense of the senseless, and to find meaning and explain the world around us. Yet sometimes, those stories fail us...

A couple of recent events have reminded me how incredibly important it is to cherish the ones you love...

I received an abusive fraudulent phone call today from someone from the "Windows security service" who no doubt wanted to get me to install malware on my computer. The call made once again think of our need for "secure origin identification" within IP communications. More info at:

"Why do you do it?" someone recently asked me after learning I'd flown around 96,000 miles last year year to somewhat ironically talk to people about making the Internet work better. In this episode I talk about WHY I do what I do... and about the choice of futures I see us having for the Internet and for our online future...

Some evening thoughts while walking the cold streets of Keene, NH, on our need to help those who have no choice but to be out on the streets...

I'm pleased to announce the launch of a new podcast, "FIR On Technology with Dan York" where I'll be doing deeper dives into the tools and technology that people involved with communications / PR / marketing need to care about. In this TDYR episode I talk about the show, play the promo and discuss the first episode. Links discussed include:
