In 2021, January and her husband filed a federal lawsuit against the school district for socially transitioning her 13-year-old daughter without their knowledge or consent.

She now devotes much of her free time to educating parents, school officials, legislators, and mental health professionals on the affirmation only approach in medicine and helping parents whole children have fallen prey to this ideology find resources and treatment options to support their family.
