It's episode 200 of The Big Money Stylist Podcast!
And what better topic than why you should always continue with education?
Just because you're good at hair doesn't mean you're an educator, and even then you should STILL be continuing your education!
Just because you take one course does not mean you are an expert.
Maybe you are certified, but do you actually know what you're doing?
You might be taking a ton of different certification courses, but actually continuing your education is a little different because you can really dive into your craft & perfect every little thing.
What does continuing your education mean to you? That might be something you want to ask yourself. Do you find yourself wanting MORE?
Continued education should be intentional.
Are you hitting your checklist of going to classes, or are you actually able to apply this to your business?
Your bank account should reflect your progress. If you can see actual evidence of your growth, then it is working! You are growing!
You can do it, and you can hit the checklist, or you can commit to the outcome. That is where you can look at something with intention & really figure out where you want to go.
Analyze your own work. Be open to feedback. Really look at your work & find something that you can work on, then find something you did a great job with.
It is important to look at your goals, start where you're at & then commit.
Don't forget to celebrate how far you have come. That is HUGE!
You cannot truly appreciate how far you have come and recognize your growth if you're not celebrating the wins!
Do NOT let your stories dictate your actions.
You got this & remember to commit & be consistent with the small things.
The small consistencies are going to give you the biggest growth!
If you're ready to continue your education, then we have an offer just for you!
The NBR® Online Course is a great way to be introduced to the method of Natural Beaded Rows®.

Why did you choose to go to hair school? What is the driving force behind the things that you do?
When you go to hair school, you are taught to do hair and really nothing else. You learn the basics of doing clients.
How many of you have graduated from hair school & realized that you actually know NOTHING about all the important things?
How to run your business, how to track your numbers, and how to market your business.
Those are just things you are not taught & that is really hard when you have NO clue where to start.
You are MORE than just a hairstylist.
You are an Artist by TRADE.
You are also a marketer.
You should wake up every day asking yourself how to get more leads.
Remember that YOU ARE THE PRIZE!
The other thing you want to do is focus on where you're at and where you want to go.
You want to dial in & figure out how you can get to where you want to go based on where you're at currently.
Be grateful for what you have accomplished & move forward with intention!
Unfortunately, there are NO shortcuts to success.
Consistency can get you SO far.
We've said it a million times & we will likely tell you a million MORE times that the small consistencies will make all the difference.
There are going to be times when you fall out of your habit & consistency, and that is OKAY.
The biggest thing you want to do is make that choice that you're going to jump right back in.
Just do it.
Perfection does not exist. Progress exists.
You're always wanting to strive for progress. So you want to think to yourself, what is your end result? Where is it you want to be?
Continued education is teaching you how to have a voice in this industry.
You may be pretty confident in your craft but how are you at marketing?
There are so many things that you can do to perfect your craft and your business & get you on that path to where you want to go.
You just need to really sit down & figure out exactly what it is you want to do.

To grow, you have to LEAP!
Are you committed?
Do you see the vision?
First things first, you have to believe in yourself. You know you can do it. You have ALL the tools you need.
Sometimes things can be scary, but you have to dig deep & remember why you committed to something in the first place & just take the leap.
As an Artist, you're told that you have to take any and all of the clients.
You are told you're lucky to even have them in your chair.
The reality is you are the prize.
That feeling you're having that you want MORE, that you don't want to do the clients that you're doing, maybe you're sick of being a slave behind the chair.
You start to want MORE. You start feeling that something else is out there for you… That feeling, you should listen to.
Choose to take that leap.
Although it's scary, you are having those thoughts for a reason.
Sometimes taking a leap means asking for help. Sometimes it means taking care of yourself.
Tune in to where you're at and listen to that. If you were to evaluate where you're at and want to go, think about exactly how you can get there.
The scary feeling you have surrounding something that is uncomfortable to you is just a story you have in your head.
You need to push past that. You need to push past that pain and PUSH yourself.
When you push past that fear, you start to see your growth.
Then you start to realize that it was never really that scary to begin with.
Are you ready to take the leap?

Just to start this out on the right foot - If you have hair & your hair is done, you don't need anything else.
Shifting mindset… What does that mean to you?
What does commitment mean to you?
Do you think that they correlate?
If you can't commit to YOURSELF how are you supposed to commit to anything else?
Most days you probably don't want to commit to what you originally committed to, THOSE are the moments where you really figure out who you are. When you figure out how committed you are to yourself.
We live in a society where everyone wants immediate gratification. That is not going to give you the end result that you want.
So when you are committing to things, you want to make sure that you map out a realistic plan, and have realistic expectations for yourself. Don't commit to something that is impossible to accomplish.
On the other side of that, if you commit to yourself, FOLLOW THROUGH.
The days where you feel like shit & you don't want to follow through with your commitment, those are the days that you NEED to commit no matter what.
Although you might have fear of failure, not doing what you committed to is where the failure comes in. When you are working towards something, you can never fail.
Don't think, just do.
Stop overthinking ALL the things that you want to do, and just pick ONE thing and just do it. What is going to help you RIGHT now? Start there.
So what is ONE thing that you can do right now…?
Ready to commit to furthering your career as an Artist? It's time you join DKW® Styling Academy!

Being humble…
Artists are notorious for having an ego about their art. Which is understandable, to a point, you worked really hard to produce what you're putting out!
HOWEVER, you don't want your ego to ever get SO big that you're not open to growth & feedback.
You're NEVER too good to learn & grow.
Ask yourself this, when is the last time you looked at your work? Really looked at your work & thought, "what can I do to get better? What can I do to improve?"
It's okay to want more.
Your ego is good for many things, but it's also not so good for things. Your ego will push you into doing things you might not have done. It also can keep you in a box because it's telling you that you are fine where you're at & don't NEED anything else.
So we are going to need you to reel in your ego for a moment & really put your work to the test. Really look at your work & ask yourself… Is this THE very best work I am capable of producing? If I were to put my work next to the BEST… how would It compare?
Are you doing things with intention? It's really hard to see the areas that you need to improve when you do not take a step back & really take a good look at things.
Like we have said many times before, you can always improve. You can always grow & learn to better yourself. ALWAYS.
The key is really being able to assess your work honestly.
There are certain things that can help you check that ego at the door & really just set your intention to really be the best you can be. One of those things is working until the job is done.
Start there. Once the job is done, get in the habit of telling yourself one thing you did amazing at and one thing you can improve for next time.
You'll be amazed at how quickly you grow when changing your mindset.
Welcome to The Big Money Stylist Podcast!
On this week's episode, your host, Danielle K. White, welcomes a new guest, NBR® Trainer Sarah Stephenson.
They take on the topic of feedback and how receiving feedback and doing tasks with intention are the driving forces in your success.
Does that mean you have to love the feedback you receive from the get-go? Absolutely not! What's the worst that could happen from getting a fresh perspective?
You may not love the feedback, but the ability to take that feedback, implement change, and do it with intention is critical to growth in anything you do!
"Momentum and consistency will equal progress, not perfection, and there is no such thing as perfection. Progress will give you leaps and bounds above staying where you're currently at."
-Danielle K. White
Don't live in that story of, 'Well I can't do it because of this' that's just the story. Just apply the feedback (you receive)."
-Sarah Stephenson

Something critical for any and all Stylists, but even more so, anyone who doesn't want to end up feeling overwhelmed, stretched thin, and ready to burn out.

"You just need to set boundaries. If you don't, you're going to burn out. You're going to be overwhelmed. Give yourself time and space to recharge." -Rachel Nieves

"Create your own opportunity and push through the pain. Those scary moments. You need to acknowledge that you've done the work to have that scary moment. Embrace those scary moments!" -Danielle K. White
"Would I regret it if I said no? Even though you're scared, you still have to push through it." - Coach Courtney Dines
