30 min - The Bamberg Witch Trials - Part 1By the year 1627, the European Witch Trials had come to their peak when the Prince Bishop of Bamberg , initiated the construction of the Malefitzhaus; the largest and most well known Prison in Germany to house those accused of witchcraft. This building became the most brutal witch prison to be erected during the ongoing witch frenzies that spread across Europe between the fourteenth and seventeenth centuries. There would be tales of false accusations leading to the most horrific torture and public deaths recorded in those times outside of war. The most chilling part about this tale from the past is that the Bamberg Witch Commission was the most ruthless of them all, and almost no one was safe from being accused of being in a league with the Devil. By the time the third wave of witch trials had ended in the town of Bamberg, Germany, over 40% of the men, women and children where accused of black magic, tortured, and burned at the stake. Back in 1946, The Dr. Charles Camsell Indian Hospital opened up in the capitol city of Edmonton, Alberta.
Today, an empty building is all that stands. Local urban legends say the halls of the old Camsell hospital are haunted with the wandering souls of the patients the doctors and staff at Camsell were supposed to heal.
Some haunted places on this earth are created due to human intervention and crimes against humanity. Today's episode covers just such a place. Santa Clause is finalizing his list, and he’s checking it twice as we approach the end of December. This list is well known to children of all ages. As the days get closer and closer to the 25th, children around the globe pray they end up being rewarded with gifts and sweets for all their good deeds preformed through the year. A child who lands on the infamous Naughty list is said to receive nothing but a lump of coal in their stocking; this being the common westernized belief of today.
It was not always like this. Did you know that in many parts of the world, Santa Claus is known as Saint Nicolas. And, Saint Nicolas travels with a companion spirit. This companion spirit is much darker, and is known as the one who takes care of the children who find themselves on St. Nick’s naughty list. The origins of this spirit pre dates Christianity, and is still celebrated today in the alpine villages of central Europe. They call this spirit Krampus, and he comes armed with birch reeds, and an empty sack to fill up with the wicked children of the world.
In this episode, I will share with you what I have learned about the Krampus’ ancient origins, what Hollywood has to say and how this anthropomorphic being is celebrated in the 21 century.

Hello, I'm Wynne Thornley. In life, I am an Metaphysical Educator and Author. I am also a supernatural nerd. My interest with the unknown began when I was a kid, due to having my own misunderstood psychic experiences.
My life long study of the strange and unusual has prepared me for the work I am called to do now; taking me places other lightworkers won’t go. This has taught me about how many fallacies the masses still believe about the paranormal.
