good mystery read
Good read! I enjoyed this book very much. I actually picked it up at random because the synopsis sounded just interesting enough and the price was more-than-right. And I was pleasantly surprised.
I found the story engaging, the characters likable and/or despicable - where appropriate - and the mystery itself just-rightly-veiled. Unlike other mysteries I didn't get to the end and wonder how the heck I was supposed to have arrived at that conclusion or what universe the author had been residing in to reach that end. The clues were doled out in a fairly mysterious fashion with just enough hint that those "ah-ha!" moments rang true later on.
And yes, in obsessive, mystery reader style, I stayed up too late on a few occasions just to read "a little bit more". Recommended!
Holy cow!!!!!
This is the first Andrew Gross book I have read! I know it will not be the last! This book started and the murders, threats, suspense kept building! Just when I think I know what is going on, something else happens! I was so knotted up by the middle of the book, I figured it was going to require walking for hours to drain off the tension or a large bottle of whiskey! I have already ordered two more of this author's books! He knows how to tell a story....how to drag you right into the middle of it.....and keep you steadily reading right to the end! This is an author I will enjoy following!

Excellent novel, the only thing I disagreed with, was the death of Charles. I expected him to clear things gs up and get his children back.
A finely crafted novel
I really appreciate a well written story and this is one of them. It's a story of love and of greed. A story of loss. Karen and Charlie so happily married until a bomb goes off in the underground and Charlie is dead, gone, not coming back.
As the days pass there is the sense of something not quite right. Therein is the story. Read it and enjoy.
Master storyteller
I read this one in record time, losing a bit of sleep over it. Great story telling. My only frustration was trying to keep all the characters straight although Mr. Gross tied them up in a bow at the end.
