Throughout life, people will try to define you. They’ll assign labels, fit you into a box, or push you down a path that benefits them more than you. But at the end of the day, you get to decide the labels you carry.
In this episode, Daryl shares his personal experience with labels that were placed on him from childhood into adulthood—and how he learned to let go of the ones that didn’t serve him. He talks about the importance of self-perception, the challenge of overcoming ingrained beliefs, and how to take ownership of your story.
This episode will challenge you to reflect on the labels you’ve accepted, help you reframe your inner dialogue, and give you permission to define yourself on your own terms. It’s time to step in front of the mirror, not to tear yourself down, but to build yourself up.
I Cover:
✔️ How labels from childhood shape self-perception
✔️ Why some labels stick and how to let them go
✔️ How to reframe negative thoughts when they resurface
✔️ The power of taking ownership over your story
✔️ A simple mindset shift to help you move forward with confidence
If you’ve ever felt like the world was telling you who you should be, this episode will help you reclaim the pen and write your own definition.

In this episode, I challenge you to take a step back and reflect: What’s at the root of your actions? We often talk about this in health and fitness, but it applies to every part of life. The key is to observe your behaviors without judgment—something that takes practice but can lead to profound self-awareness and meaningful change.
If you don’t take the time to connect with yourself and understand why you do what you do, companies, brands, and external influences will gladly tell you. The problem? Their motives often have more to do with selling you something than helping you grow.
When you get clear on your own motivations and eliminate the noise, you take control of your life. You see your blind spots, recognize your habits, and start making changes that are aligned with who you truly are. This isn’t about following someone else’s blueprint—it’s about figuring out what works for you.
We explore how this process connects to health, fitness, and beyond. This isn’t just about workouts and nutrition—it’s about using fitness as a launchpad to build self-trust, self-awareness, and an approach to life that’s fully your own.
This is the core of what I do at Your Level Fitness. Whether you’re engaging with my free content or working with me directly, my goal is to help you build a life that reflects your values, not someone else’s expectations.

In this episode of The Daryl Perry Podcast, we dive deep into the Inside/Out Approach to Fitness and why your relationship with yourself matters more than any external transformation. Losing weight or changing how you look may provide a temporary boost, but it won’t create the deep, lasting self-acceptance you need. That’s why Your Level Fitness is built around six minimum daily actions—helping you develop a mindset that supports lifelong wellness, not just short-term results.
We also explore:
✅ The importance of keeping fitness simple—consistent eating and exercise habits based on your preferences
✅ How to separate your self-worth from external validation in a comparison-driven world
✅ Why habit-based coaching is a more sustainable approach than traditional before-and-after transformations
✅ How journaling and self-reflection can support both mental and emotional well-being
✅ The overwhelming amount of fitness industry noise—and how to filter out the distractions to focus on what works for you
If you’re ready to take control of your fitness journey and start from the inside out, this episode is for you!

How much of your day is spent in front of a screen? More importantly, how is it making you feel? In this episode, I take a deep dive into our screen time habits—especially when it comes to social media—and the impact they have on self-perception, productivity, and overall well-being.
I’m not here to tell you how much time you should or shouldn’t spend on your phone. Instead, I encourage you to take a closer look at your own usage, analyze what you're getting from it, and determine if it’s helping or hindering your goals. We’ll talk about strategies for finding balance, why an "all or nothing" approach rarely works, and how to create intentional boundaries that align with your life.
Technology is an incredible tool, but without checks and balances, it can shape the way we see ourselves in ways we don’t even realize. Let’s explore how to be more mindful about our screen time, without falling into the extremes of complete dependence or total elimination.

We all have a personal narrative running in our minds where we are the main character. While this is natural, it’s important to maintain balance—avoiding the extremes of seeing ourselves as either the ultimate hero or the perpetual victim. In this episode, I talk about the importance of self-awareness, how unchecked blind spots can hold us back, and why acknowledging both our wins and mistakes is essential for growth.
I also dive into the lessons life offers—not everything is a lesson, but there’s always something to learn. We discuss how taking responsibility for our actions, recognizing patterns, and adjusting our mindset can make a significant difference in how we navigate life.
Tune in for practical takeaways on embracing your story with clarity, accountability, and a forward-focused mindset.

In today’s episode of The Daryl Perry Podcast, I explore a tough question: Are you truly working through your healing journey, or are you just going through the motions? In a world where social media amplifies buzzwords and curated personas, it’s easy to fall into the trap of performing growth instead of actually experiencing it.
I break down how to avoid the pitfalls of creating one-sided narratives, the importance of connecting with yourself, and why a quality relationship with a therapist can make all the difference. Whether it’s in fitness, mental health, or personal growth, the key is knowing yourself and being honest about why you’re doing the work. This is a call to observe, reflect, and—if necessary—change course.
