On this episode of Dead Icons, we crack open the legend of Frank Sinatra—the voice that ruled the charts and the man who always seemed to stand one step from danger. We dive into the long-circulated mob rumors that followed him for decades, his powerhouse musical career, and the surprisingly close ties he kept with presidents. We also look at his uneasy reaction to Marilyn Monroe’s death and why he doubted the official story.
A superstar, an insider, and a magnet for mystery—Sinatra’s world wasn’t just glamorous. It was explosive.
On a May morning in 1994, a cargo plane touched down in Goma, Zaire—its cargo not food or medicine for a starving region, but mortar shells, ammunition, and one of the masterminds of genocide. This was no accident. Behind Rwanda’s killing fields lay an international supply chain of weapons, money, and political cover—stretching from Paris to London to Tel Aviv.
In this final episode of our series on the Rwandan genocide, The Dead Icons Podcast uncovers how foreign powers became entangled in mass murder. From France’s secret networks of Françafrique, to British arms dealers laundering shipments through shell companies, to Israeli and Albanian suppliers feeding the militias—this is the hidden story of how the genocide was fueled far beyond Rwanda’s borders.

Imagine growing up in a country that is designed to keep you down. Not just segregated but where the entire apparatus of the government is engineered with revenge in mind. Revenge for crimes you didn't even commit. From a time where you weren't even born.
This was life for the Tutsi people in Rwanda through the 70s and 80s.
But for those who had escaped, things weren't much better. In the dusty refugee camps of neighbouring Uganda, a generation was coming of age bitter and resentful of what had been taken from them. They plotted and planned for a day when they could take back what was rightfully theirs.
When they finally decided to take action, it would spark a brutal civil war within Rwanda and would set the scene for one of the greatest tragedies of all time.
This week marks the 31st anniversary of the Rwandan Genocide. Where over the course of 100 days almost 1 million people were killed in some of the most brutal and heart wrenching circumstances. The violence swept the country like a plague leaving very few areas untouched. But how did it get to this. In this first episode of our series on this tragic event, we look at the colonial roots of the violence. How European ideas on race and ethnicity would have a long lasting and fatal effect on the country and it's people.
On this series finale we look at the dark side of Maradona. Prepare to learn about his hilarious run ins with the tax man as well as the gut wrenching case of Mavys Alvarez.
Lastly the three lads get off the fence about whether or not Diego Armando Maradona should be considered an icon.
