Your leadership doesn’t stop at the driveway.
Your ratio follows you home.
If your family tracked your positive-to-negative ratio, would it match the one you think you’re running at work?
In this episode, Chris takes the ratio conversation out of the dealership and straight into the living room — where it matters most. Because the people who feel your ratio the deepest aren’t your employees. They’re the ones who call you Dad, Mom, Husband, Wife.
Drawing from Dr. John Gottman’s groundbreaking research — which predicts divorce with 94% accuracy based on communication ratios — this episode reveals a hard truth:
The same ratio that builds great teams
is the ratio that builds great marriages and families.
Pick one person at home today.
Deliver five small positives before you correct anything.
Simple. Intentional. Powerful.
Because when your home can breathe,
your leadership at work gets stronger.
Shift the ratio in one place —
and it transforms everything.

Share the War Room
If this episode sparked something for you, share it with another leader today. Copy the link, drop it in a text, and tell them:
“You need to hear this — it’s only 7 minutes, and it will make you better today.”
Remember:
You don’t need a better market.
You don’t need better leads.
You don’t even need better people.
You need to become a better leader.
Let’s go create some leadership fire.
Your numbers aren’t broken.
Your ratio is.
If your team stiffens when you walk into the room…
If people wait to see whether they’re getting the calm version of you or the frustrated one…
If meetings feel more like weather reports than war briefs…
That’s not attitude.
That’s not laziness.
And it’s not a Gen Z problem.
That’s your positive-to-negative communication ratio quietly running the store.
In this episode, Chris breaks down the research-backed truth most leaders never measure — and why performance rises or collapses based on the emotional oxygen you bring into the room.
Drawing from Dr. Kim Cameron’s landmark leadership research, you’ll see why elite teams operate at nearly 6 positive interactions for every negative, while failing cultures suffocate under the opposite ratio.
Track your ratio for the next 24 hours.
Don’t judge it. Just measure it.
And try this once today:
“Here’s what you did right — here’s the next rep.”
Your store doesn’t rise to the level of your processes.
It falls to the level of your emotional ratio.
Fix the ratio — and everything else follows.

Most leaders don’t burn out from the work.
They burn out from the replay.
Replaying yesterday’s mistakes.
Replaying missed follow-ups.
Replaying blown deals.
And then dragging the entire team through the same film session over and over.
You think it’s coaching.
But it’s really pain without learning.
Accuracy without hope.
And it’s quietly killing belief inside your store.
In this episode, Chris breaks down why constantly diagnosing failure doesn’t create change—and how elite leaders shift from accurately describing the past to effectively shaping the future.
You’ll hear a powerful story from college football that proves one simple leadership shift can restore belief, create momentum, and unlock performance almost instantly.
Today, catch yourself in one moment where you’d normally replay the mistake.
Instead, ask: “What’s one win we can create next?”
One moment.
One sentence.
One shift.
That’s how cultures change.
You’re either replaying the past — or creating the future.
Choose effectiveness.
Choose hope.

Who’s Your Monkey?
Ever notice your biggest leadership blowups happen on the days you feel completely alone?
No grounding. No support. No connection.
That’s because you were never designed to regulate yourself by yourself.
Connection multiplies execution.
Isolation multiplies chaos.
In unstoppable Culture, I share the study: when stressed monkeys were placed in pairs instead of alone, their cortisol levels dropped by over 50%.
Same stress.
Different chemistry.
Because connection changes the brain.
Humans are no different.
Your worst leadership behaviors—snapping, avoiding, overcorrecting—aren’t character flaws.
They’re connection failures.
1️⃣ Identify your person — the one who grounds you in 30 seconds.
2️⃣ Tell them — “You steady me. Thank you.”
3️⃣ Use that connection intentionally — reset with them before walking into a fire.
4️⃣ Become a multiplier — bring steadiness to your team.
Connection-first leaders create execution-driven cultures.
Steady leaders build steady stores.
Pick your monkey.
Tell them today.
Use that connection before a meeting, a conflict, or a tough call.
Connection first. Execution next.

The Leadership Mirror Most Avoid
Ever wonder why some weeks you hit your numbers even though your leadership wasn’t at its best?
Because every leader has two forces at play:
Sometimes your store wins because of you.
Sometimes it wins in spite of you.
And that second part is where all the hidden losses live.
At Parker Cadillac, when the team honestly evaluated their ratio, the conclusion was clear:
30% of their success was happening despite their leadership… and fixing it was worth seven figures.
When you see the cost, change becomes non-negotiable.
Choose one in-spite-of behavior to eliminate today.
Not all of them — just the one that’s draining the most trust, profit, or momentum.
Your identity shifts one behavior at a time.

The Drama Pattern That Destroys Teams
If you feel like you're always fixing drama you didn’t cause, here’s the truth:
You’re stuck in the Triangle of Death — the Victim, Hero, and Perpetrator loop.
And the moment you “help,” you step into the Hero role…
which keeps the drama alive and kills execution.
The Victim has the power — because they decide who becomes the Hero and the Villain.
1️⃣ Don’t play the Hero.
If you rescue, you reinforce victim thinking.
2️⃣ Force responsibility. Ask:
3️⃣ Collapse triangulation.
Say: “Go speak with them, then come back after.”
Drama dies instantly when ownership returns to the person holding it.
Pick one triangle today —
the salesperson who always needs saving,
the two advisors feuding,
the BDC rep playing favorites —
and collapse it.
Don’t rescue.
Don’t absorb.
Return the responsibility.

Ever light someone up to “snap them into focus” — and watch them collapse with the next customer?
Because when you lose your temper, you don’t motivate people…
you turn them into lizards.
Your intensity floods their brain with cortisol, shuts down their prefrontal cortex, and drops them into survival mode.
They stop thinking, stop learning, and stop listening.
You didn’t fix the problem — you created the next one.
I’m Chris Hunsicker, and this is the Dealership War Room Leadership Fire.
AC was a talented manager… and emotionally explosive.
What he thought was “passion,” his team experienced as threat.
His engagement scores proved it — trust, coaching, and connection were sinking.
Emotional volatility doesn’t build leaders.
It disables them.
The tool that changed AC’s leadership — and his home life:
1️⃣ Posture: Pull the string. Chest up, chin down. Smile.
2️⃣ Breath: In through the nose, slow exhale out.
3️⃣ Cue: “What’s important now?” / “I’ve got this.”
This flips you from reactive → regulated.
From creating lizards → creating leaders.
Today, catch one trigger moment — and Flip the Switch.
One moment is enough to shift your identity.
Go out, master your mood, create leadership fire — and I’ll see you tomorrow in the Dealership War Room.

Let’s go create some leadership fire.
Ever light someone up at the desk… only to watch them fall apart with the very next customer?
Here’s the biological truth: when you lose your temper, you don’t motivate your people — you turn them into lizards.
Not metaphorically. Neurologically.
Your anger floods their brain with cortisol, shuts down their prefrontal cortex, and snaps them into survival mode.
They stop thinking, stop problem-solving, and stop learning.
You didn’t fix the problem — you just created the next one.
AC was one of the sharpest managers I’d ever coached… and one of the most volatile.
He thought his intensity was passion.
His team experienced it as danger.
And his engagement surveys showed it — connection, trust, and coaching were tanking.
Because emotional volatility doesn’t inspire.
It disables.
When you blast your people, you’re not talking to adults anymore — you’re talking to their lizard brain.
AC’s turnaround — as a leader and as a husband and father — came from one tool:
Flip the Switch — a 3-step reset from fight-or-flight to calm authority.
1️⃣ Posture
Pull the string. Chest up, chin down. Smile.
Posture changes chemistry.
2️⃣ Breath
In through your nose, long exhale out.
This flips the nervous system from reactive → regulated.
3️⃣ Verbal Cue
“What’s important now?”
“I’ve got this.”
“Bring it on.”
Your cue shifts you from emotional to intentional.
AC used this dozens of times a day — and everyone noticed.
He didn’t get better because the store got calmer.
He got better because he stopped adding fuel to the fire.
Today, just pick one moment when you feel the heat rising — and run the Flip the Switch protocol.
One moment today.
Two tomorrow.
Five next week.
And suddenly, you stop creating lizards… and start creating leaders.
If emotional volatility is costing you influence, culture, or connection, the Velocity Mastermind is where elite leaders train these identity-level skills every month.
Go out today, flip the switch, create some leadership fire — and I’ll see you tomorrow in the Dealership War Room.

BUILD THE LEADER. BECOME UNBREAKABLE
Most leaders spend their whole career trying to make the job easier — but elite leaders aren’t shaped by ease. They’re built by stacking disciplines under pressure.
As Phil Stutz says: You don’t rise to your goals. You rise to the disciplines you can sustain at your worst.
When you can stack structure, regulation, courage, and stamina, you don’t just become effective — you become unbreakable.
1. Structural Discipline — Your Rhythm
Same start time. Same targets. Same first 90 seconds. Same shutdown.
Structure isn’t optional — structure is armor.
2. Reactive Discipline — Your Regulation
You’re the anchor, not the sail.
Notice → Name → Normalize → Narrow.
A regulated leader regulates the room.
3. Expansive Discipline — Your Courage
If you’re avoiding it, it’s the door.
Courage isn’t a feeling — it’s obedience to your higher self.
4. Emotional Stamina — Your Identity
Do what needs to be done especially when you don’t feel like it.
Stamina is the glue that holds the stack together.
You become calm, clear, grounded, consistent, trustworthy — the leader whose presence steadies the entire store.
Mood runs the store.
Avoidance runs your leadership.
Chaos runs your day.
Your confidence and culture collapse.
Your family doesn’t need a perfect leader — they need the unbreakable version of you.
Pick one discipline and commit to it for 7 days.
Say it: “I run the stack. The stack builds the leader.”
If you want daily structure, prompts, and accountability, text discipline to the number on the screen and we’ll send you our AI Execution Assistant.

Remember:
You don’t need a better market.
You don’t need better leads.
You don’t even need better people.
You need to become a better leader.
Let’s go create some leadership fire.
Every leader knows this moment:
You know exactly what needs to be done — and you still don’t do it.
Here’s the real truth:
You’re not avoiding the task.
You’re avoiding the emotion attached to the task — the discomfort, confrontation, uncertainty, or fear.
Avoidance isn’t laziness. It’s emotional protection.
And that’s why Phil Stutz created the third discipline: Expansive Discipline — the discipline of walking toward what your emotions want you to run from.
I am Chris Hunsicker, and this is the Dealership War Room Leadership Fire — seven minutes built daily, fueled intentionally, and delivered relentlessly.
You’re in the war room now, so let’s go.
Structural discipline keeps you steady.
Reactive discipline keeps you regulated.
Expansive discipline makes you grow.
Your body feels avoidance before your brain invents excuses:
the tight throat, pit in your stomach, shallow breath, tension in the jaw.
Then the excuses show up:
“I’ll do it later.”
“They’re stressed.”
“I need more info.”
The problem isn’t the task — it’s the emotion.
And your team sees your avoidance. Always.
Avoidance destroys trust, culture, urgency, and eventually, your identity.
Avoidance creates guilt → guilt turns to shame → shame creates paralysis → paralysis shrinks identity.
That’s the avoidance spiral.
Here’s the mindset shift that frees you:
Avoidance doesn’t mean you’re weak — it means you haven’t trained your courage yet.
Don’t wait to feel brave.
Act your way into bravery.
When you know the thing you’ve been avoiding, give yourself:
10 seconds.
Feel the fear — and step anyway.
Make the call. Start the conversation. Set the boundary. Tell the truth.
Courage isn't a feeling.
Courage is obedience to your higher self.
When you walk toward discomfort:
The power isn’t just the result — it’s who you become.
Tomorrow we stack all three disciplines — structure, regulation, and courage — into the Unbreakable Leader Stack.
Pick one thing you’ve been avoiding.
Write it down.
Take one action within 10 seconds.
Say it:
“If I’m avoiding it, it’s the door I need to walk through.”
If you want daily courage prompts and accountability, text discipline to the number on the screen for our AI Execution Assistant.
Go out today, step toward the thing you’ve been avoiding,
